I think the sales of the new Mustangs with the retro 60s styling will prove your theory to be incorrect.

One thing about the GTO. They must give up on the held over styling cue--- what is left of the split grille. The ridiculous, symbolic remains of the 60s front end look is hurting their flexibility to restyle the front end.

This is all old news. Everyone complains GM has no performance car...then they build one and everyone complains about the styling and the lack of scoops and dual exhaust pipes....now its 400 hp and everyone complains about the price....and it goes on and on.

    At least GM is trying.

You won't ever see a new pontiac engine or a buick engine or whatever. All the new cars get corporate engines, it just doesn't make sense in the tight competition to day to be developing five or six different powerplants for the same type of car. The LS1 was certianly a smokin engine, this LS2 must be awesome.

There are already rumours of a 450HP judge version coming. Don't forget these numbers are NET, so add another 50-or 60 HP on to make it match your pre 72 ratings....then add great handling, good interiors, quiet, 25plus MPG etc...

And yeah, lets all get a mustang, must be tough finding your own in the parking lot.....

    Just some opnions.

My friend put a smaller pulley on his Cobra along with freer flowing exhaust and a programmer. According to what he has read it should have about 425-450 RWHP. I was really impressed with the car.

From photos and the commercial I think the '05 stang is butt-ugly. Too many styling cues from too many years. it reminds me of that old Johnny Cash song, It's a 64,65,66,67,68,69 automobile.....

I want a GTO like the orange one that Mike wants :)

I'll reserve fial judgement for when I see it in person.

Wasn't that "One Peice at a Time?" (One of the few country songs I know.)

True, GM is trying, but it looks like Ford is succeeding. The Mustang has more integrity in its likeness to a Mustang, it still sells well and appeals to old and young alike.

We went on holidays last month and rented the 25 anniversary Mustang GT Convertable. I was never crazy about them but this car had a great power band and would squak em hard when shifting. Would lay rubber quite easily too. Good thing the rental company never checked the rear tire treads when we got back... :Brow:
Sure would like to test drive that new GTO. :TU:
