Anytime my speedminder goes off instead of slowing down I just turn the knob raising the speed so I don’t have to hear it! :)
I don’t think it’s supposed to work that way...

The buzzer was designed by a terrorist. I also drive too fast...and, it wasn't very accurate. After 50 years, it would just go off whenever it felt like it, and that would occasionally scare the bejeebers out of a guy...

On my '73, the SpeedMinder and Trip Odometer share the same knob. Normal counter/clockwise rotation is Trip and pushing in and turning is the Minder, I believe.

It's just a speed "minder". It's job is to alert you that you have exceeded your preset speed. Not like a cruise control. I just never seem to use it that way. Instead of slowing down like I should, I just set the speed higher.

I'll have to double-check that. I didn't notice the odo turning when I turned the knob in the normal position.

haha kinda pointless then . I just thought it was a neat feature for cars that old . I'd probably do the same as you actually but as long as I have cruise im ok .

Its also possible the trip reset gears have stripped. I know on mine I have to go back and forth with the knob for it to sometimes catch and reset to 0, but often it just doesn't catch.

The trip meter reset has always been real cheesy:rolleyes:

I think that might be the case. Oh well, not that big of a deal.
