    Will be tempted!!
same color as my skylark, but with a vinyl top.
Vin is correct, look nice but I can see overspray on quarter glass rubber.

It appears the hood trim is incorrect for the GS, it is the straight edged hood trim, should have the turned down edges.

Nothing wrong with that hood trim....GS's in 72 could have had either one. Patton

It is amazing to me the answers I get on stuff like this, I was involved in a thread awhile back and actually bought a turned edge hood trim piece because everyone within the thread said the turned down edges was correct for a 72 GS/GSX. Now I am hearing something different. So what is the correct answer for positivity? It has almost come to the point that I will have to start a poll on each item I am buying to get the popular vote of the people.

Nothing wrong with either one Andrew---so the turned down one you mention is just fine also. Duane or Brad answered this question before saying both styles were used on 72 GS's. The part I don't remember is if this was a case where they used the turned down ones and then switched to the flatter one, or ran out of turned down ones, or if it was completely random and not dependent on supply. I like the more-curved, turned down one but my car came with the flatter style and I had it rechromed so that's what is going back on....bought a turned down one used and haven't had it rechromed yet which I may do later to put on and compare the looks of the car with each one.

Looks like a half decent car for 12.5, especially with some of the prices a guy sees lately! Re: that hood trim (or hood nose chrome issue) I'd heard the same thing about the curved edges for GS's and straight edges for skylarks...of the 3 72 GS's I've seen in the last 2 years up here, all had the straight style; the only curved piece I've seen came off a 4 dr skylark I got in a wrecking yard!? Could this be an assembly plant issue? Or a "...hey, we're outta that part...use this part..." issue? :Do No:

I just got back from looking at this car. If any of you guys are seriously looking at it and want to ask specific questions, please feel free to contact me. The owner seems like a nice guy, his name is Henry Schmidt, he is currently making and selling aluminum GN bumper mount pedastals and aluminum 455 Alt brackets. He has a 87 regal drag car with a BUZILLA liscense plate. He was at this years nats racing it. :beer

    Bill,

If you looked at it and didn't buy it (and we know how you like to buy cars), would we even want it? :Do No:

    Damn Chris,

You get right to the point Don't ya! :Smarty: This is the right car for someone, maybe not for a flipper like me. I went there to see if I could buy it, fix it up with my friend, and flip it. I flip cars with a buddy of mine, we are doing a frame off on a GTO Judge right now. I bought the X for me to play with. This car required a little more commitment than I was ready to give.

If someone who is not a flipper like me, or wants it like I wanted my X, is interested in the car, Call me 313-715-5627. I will answer questions, I will not provide a critique. The owner seems like a good guy and he spent his time with me. I respect him and his car and think it is a good car for someone. Just not me.

Wow, that was long winded! :blast: :blast:

    trunk pic

I was going to sell my black car to buy this one untill we got the trunk pic's. the pic's looked great that he sent but when we kept asking for trunk pic's he would forget to send them. Look at the pic CJP69 posted, look at the lip by the weather strip its all bent and there still looks like rust in there. I think its hole life was spent in MI.Its had 1/4s and trunk repair, I don't have a problem with that if its done correctly ........Chris

    Hood trim

    :Do No:
I would never question Duane but..... I have had a lot of 72 Skylarks and GS's all that came with the plastic grille had the turn down and the Custom grille ( metal) had the flat nose piece . I would bet that if the flat was mounted with the plastic it was a supply issue as They look different . The metal grille is shorter and the flat part of the nose oiece sits lower to fill in the gap . Put a meatal grille in with the curved piece and see it doesn't look right . The flat piece just sits a little lower on the plastic grille .

    Look at the description????????

Look at his description on e-bay, no mention of the ( rust repair) both rear 1/4s, trunk etc. Even if the repairs were done correctly they do change the market value of this car and he knows this, thats why he won't say it. This car has been for sale a long time for a reason. Tell the truth and the market will show the real price,if you don't like the price then keep it. I hate people that use e-bay for dumping grounds, he's owned the car for 20 years, why not just give the straight goods :af: The reason this has P!$$ed me off so much is 4-5 months ago I almost dumped my 70 GS455 for this car and if it wasn't for another board member spilling the beans on the real condition of this car,I would of purchased the car from him with out knowing the true condition until it got to my house, MAN I would have felt very mislead and ripped off I don't think anyone else should go through this.I'm sorry to vent like this but I don't think this is the right way to conduct business.......Chris

I would bet money it is the same one. When I emailed him about it yesterday, he said he bought it about 6 months ago and that it had originally come from MI.

What is up with the floor mat in the trunk? Looks like it is hiding something.........

This is DEFINITELY the car. In checking the listing at the begining of this thread, I remember the buyer was from Arizona. Now that it is not in the hands of the guy who showed me the car in Michigan, BUYER BEWARE!!!! There is significant rust repair that was very shodily done. Chunky paint and not a straight line on the car. YUCK!!! :Dou:
