I think I've got it in a couple of formats (pdf, jpeg, and maybe tiff) but it's a BIG file, nearly 30MB. It's a big one because I wanted every detail to be captured with as much detail as possible due to the original poster not being a crisp, high quality poster. I at least needed to capture what is there or else a reproduction would really not look good. In the original the car is very grainy (on purpose) so if some of that detail were lost, the car would really look bad. Also none of the lines are crisp on the original, and there are some blemishes that show up when you magnify it. With the digital image some of this can be corrected so that the copy comes out true to the original. The original poster is something like 20" x 27" (going from memory). It's going to be really cool if Tom Rix turns out to have a stack of originals!
Sorry for the late replies but the snowstorm last week has really fouled up my work schedule. I'm trying to get everything organized so that I've got a flat price in the lower 48. Will post back by Thursday night with instructions. Thanks, Tom
That was some snowstorm! We don't get that much snow in 5 years combined! We close schools if there is 1 inch. So will the posters be copies or did you find the extra originals that you thought you might have stashed away?
This project is moving along slower than I hoped but the place I am working with is 70 miles away. The good news is I think the finished product will be very nice! Here's what I can share for now.... The original poster is being "remanufactured" and will come in 2 sizes. One the original size (approximately 22" x 27") and one will be about 1/2 the size of the original. The smaller one would be less expensive to professionally frame if that's what you chose to do. The finish will be "matte" like the original but on much higher quality paper. It will be a "limited-special" run and purchases will be limited to a maximum of 2 per person. Proceeds above costs will be donated to the V8Buick board. Without this board most people would not know this poster existed and I would have forgotten that I had one stashed away! Shipments will be via USPS Priority Mail in a sturdy round tube with delivery confirmation. I will only ship once a week, probably on Saturday. Payments will be PayPal, personal check or money order. I will post back on here 24 hours before the original "For Sale" post will go up in "The Bench" forum so that those of you that have followed this thread will have a "heads up". The wait is over!! I finally had the opportunity this morning to go to the shop and approve the proofs for the final printing. I feel they will be as nice as they could be made (and kept affordable). Some very slight changes from the original that will make them "special"! As promised your guys are getting the 24 hour heads up. I will be working with Jim W. on the post and are planning around 6:00 PM Sunday night (tomorrow) on the Bench as a sticky. Please follow the instructions there. Thanks for your patience. Tom
