    Guys,
I am looking for some mid-late March of 1971 455 engine parts. The date codes would be something like C 17 thru C30

The pieces I need are the intake manifold, and possibly a pair of heads and valve covers. I can probably use some other small pieces too.

Let me know what you have, I would also buy the entire motor if you don't want to split it up.
I will be going to the GSCA Nats and if the parts could be delivered that would be great.
    Thanks.
    Duane

    Ray,
A 70 intake will not help, they are different, but thanks.

    Keith,
If you have a March 1971 "C" motor, let me know, I am interested in parts, or will buy the entire engine if necessary. Sorry but I don't need another car.

    Keith,
What week was your body built, mine was 04B. If your car was built near mine maybe I could get some info from you. Thanks.

What do the date codes refer to? Mine has a code M30. Can't be months cause M is the thirteenth letter of the alphabet.

    Todd,
I took a ride on a B-17, but that date is a little too far back.
    Thanks for looking.

    Dave,
"M" would be for December, GM did not use the letter "I".

    Duane,
Maybe able to help, & I should be in PA before mid June. Regularly deal with a local yard where over last decade I have pulled dozens of '70-72 455 Buick shortblocks out of 225's & Rivs. All the '71 Buick 455 cyl heads are still on top shelves in one of the outbuildings. Have another load of Pontiac heads to buy out of same building, will scrape the dates & casting numbers on the Buick heads & get back with you. Intake, maybe... many pre-EGR 455 intakes have already been sold.

    Roger,
I would like to give you a call regarding the engine pieces that I need. If you could send your info to bdheckman@att.net that would be great. It would be a lot easier then typing everything.
Thanks for helping out with this.

    Date code location

    Duane,
I have a disassembled 455 from a 71 Riv. Where is the date code located on the heads and intake? I'll check and see what I've got for you. I do have the heads, valve covers, intake, carb etc etc.

    Pat G,
The block date code will be on the front of the motor where the front cover bolts to the block. If you stand in front of the motor and look directly down on the front cover/block mating surface it will be off to the passenger side.

The head dates will be inside under the valve covers.

The intake date will be right on the top.

The way the dates read is like this "A 17", would decode as January 17th.

    Hope this helps.

    Kevin,
That's exactly what I need. Let me know what you want for it, and thanks. Do you have any other pieces from that motor?
