Dave check out the thread I made last year with my LeSabre regarding engine compartment "cool original stuff:" http://www.bpgforums.com/showthread.php?t=2113&highlight=engine+compartment
I saw that one Adam.. I will be following in your footsteps to see if the Electra has the same markings. Any sticker on the valve cover is covered with gook at the moment. But I will try to uncover it without any solvents to see if there is anything ledgible. :TU: It's a Y car from Wilmington, De plant.
Interior trim differences... If I squint hard enough, it appears to be a Limited? I can't see the C pillar emblem or the front door panels well enough to tell.
I think it is a Limited-- on the rear shot, the Limited emblem is on the right side of the trunk lid below the Dooce an' a kwarter script...:TU: EDIT: On second thought maybe not!
Just has Electra225 on the pillars and the trunk is the same with the "By Buick" under it. But the vin says it's a Custom. o No:
Congratulations!!!! Nice find!!!:TU: Since you got such a deal on it, just think-you might be able to afford to fill it up a couple of times!:dollar:
Nice car! It was made in Wilmington? I thought that all Electras were made in Flint. My 1967 Wildcat, 1968 LeSabre, 1968 Wildcat and 1974 LeSabre were made in Wilmington but my 1965, 1975 and 1976 Electras came from Flint (as well as my 1967 Rivieras). The Limited was an option package on the Electra 225 Custom from 1965 to 1973 so the VIN is the same as the Custom before 1974. The pre-1975 Electra 225 Limited model has "Limited" badges on it's C pillars (instead of "Electra 225" on the 1971 model) and it also has Limited badges in it's door panels and plusher interior trim. Some differences between the base Electra 225 model and the Custom: padded lower door panels with molded armrests in the Custom (except when power windows aren't ordered) instead of door panels like in the "B" bodies with hard plastic lower part, a notchback seat or bench seat with armrest instead of a plain bench.
Very cool car. You are an idol. So, what happens if you bump that steering column lock with your knee as your doing Bo Duke stunts with your 225? The way it looks to me, it won't matter much if you've got a key for it or not at that point. Nick
I think you are suppose to lock it open so you can't hit it while driving.. I'm going to drill out the screws and either trash it or have a locksmith make keys for it.. :beer Went and registered it today.. :bglasses:
Can someone please tell me how much he paid for this car before I throw a tantrum:af: , so that I can know how good of a deal he got so that I can throw a tantrum:af: , still a good find, do us electra guys proud:TU:
