I agree. It's not being marketed as a trailer queen and it's priced accordingly. Everyone expects a time capsule. Do we all have perfect cars? :puzzled:

I agree as well. One of the first things I learned many years ago is that the toughest critics have never built or owned a really nice car. Its easy to judge, not so easy to do....

It has issues but I like the car.

Hey I have built cars on both sides of the fence. I was reading the description and thought "that is one butched car" I just sold a 69 that showed less stuff and it still needed paint! I was only pointing out the obvious since I have a trained eye for some of those details I look for in a car. Now that they are out there to look at someone in my opinion should be looking at the trunk floor from the bottom (on a lift) to see if the installation was done properly. And since I do that for a living I would also hope someone wouldnt blindly buy a car no matter the price without investigating it first. People like me will gladly go to look at a car for someone in my area so that you wont get beat up when it arrives from buying it over the internet. I am redoing a 63 chevy that another body shop was working on and the trunk was replaced GUESS WHAT? They only seam sealed the floor in and NO WELDS!!!!!!!!! Just know I DO know what Im talking about.

You can tell that car has been thru the ringer from the pictures so in my opinion, BUYER BEWARE. For $15 K I would say MAYBE its a good deal but if the trunk was replaced how much bondo is in the 1/4s??????????? what do the fenders and 1/4s look like from the underside?? IS this car going to bubble out all over the place after it gets wet!!????????? COME ON PEOPLE look at the obvious here..............47K on the odometer or not it needs to be looked at PRIOR to sale end!!! PERIOD!!

I would say I have to agree with mike, for just the simple fact that it is always better to know what might be wrong with a car before buying it, and not just assuming it is in good condition. If I was purchasing something of that value I would pray to God if I bought it over the internet that someone like Micheal with his knowledge could help me point out the things that are wrong or have been done over properly or not.

I'm with Mike on this also. There are "car nuts" and there are "collectors" who know diddly squat about cars or what to look for when buying a car. How many people know to go the the back or front of a car and look straight down the side to see ripples, etc?? Most look at the car straight on. From that perspective you don't see any imperfections. When I'm looking at a car that's the first thing I do...look straight down the side. If it looks good from there I crawl under the car to look for those things that Mike is referring to. Then if that is good then we look at the cosmetics. It costs virtually nothing to "touch up a car". The adage about beauty in a person is the same in a car "Beauty is only skin deep!" Give my an original ugly looking beast like I just bought from Steve Osborne and I'm very happy. Nothing hidden and when I'm done I know what I've got.
Sorry for rambling! I'm usually a person of few words.

We're all in agreement, and you'd be an idiot to buy the car without someone looking it over on the hoist, especially for 15K which is a LOT of money any way you look at it.

I have an eye for things too, thats how I make my living by doing inspections, and I can rip any car apart if I really want to (including my own), but it seems people really get nit picky about useless stuff when they should be concerned with the basic ID, structure, and quality of work done.

So what if its missing a valve stem cap???

I reserve judegement on any car until I can see it in person. Any maybe the quarters were replaced with NOS and they just got sloppy on the trunk final prep ..who knows...but to sit here and slam that car, or any car, without seeing it in person is just as ignorant as the guys who do a quick repair job and then sell it as restored.

I see it all the time, people put down other cars to make themselves feel better.

"This is a nice example of a 1970's muscle car with lots of options" QUOTING THE SELLER and right before that he says "The body looks straight and solid except for a couple of bubbles by the wheel opening on the driver's side quarter." Looks as if its already coming apart.

NICE??? this word is thrown around like yesterdays paper. I wasnt looking at the valve caps, was there a problem........:) Take a break from the computer I was only looking at the very obvious problems. Maybe someone will not bid blindly. I could care less if someone buys it, only wanted to share my thoughts over it. I am facinated why we have to get our panties in a wad over the fact we picked it apart?? IT IS FOR SALE THEREFORE SUBJECT TO SCRUTINY................................ Off my high horse now

No panties in a knot here...I was talking in general terms. And nice is just that, nice. Not great, not good, just nice. Personally I think its too much for the car but hey thats my opinion. I just get tired of seeing everything get ripped apart by others..it gets tiring already....

I hear ya man. My only point is, while I haven't built a ton of cars, at 43 years old and hundreds of car shows, plus a good friend who restores cars for a living, I can find something wrong with ANY car at ANY show at any time. No matter how pristine.
I was just saying that it's a decent driver (from the pics) and was priced accordingly.

I owned a 71 GS 455 (Silver) with a 455 built by Scotty from Pee Gee. Ran well. Quarters were an abortion (don't know who welded them on originally). I paid a fair price of 3k for the car. Had a cheap paint job. Reminds me very much of this car. I got a lot of thumbs up from it and I enjoyed myself while I owned it. Sold it for 3k when I was finished.

At 15k though, you're right. I would have someone like you check it out, or at least have a friend go look at it. I'd never buy a car on the seller's word.

Don't know exactly what point I'm making. Just that a driver is a driver and a good restoration is a good restoration. Prices will reflect that, which you obviously know.
