I doubt he will get much bidding, if any on the auction. Naturally, the main stumbling block is the fact that it's in Japan. If the owner wants any chance of selling this car, he's going to have to ship it here first. Frank is right, it would be a huge gamble.

Looking at the pics, what are the things on top of the rockers in the door open pics?? IE, between the doorsill plate and rocker molding, in the painted part...are they screws with washers or....?? Doors are missing bumpers too. I always wonder when some very basic and cheap things are left off like that :Do No:

I see what you mean in the pictures. The pics are a little fuzzy to make out what they are. Maybe the car was Ziebarted. They used to drill holes in the body, shoot the undercoat in there and use plastic caps to cover the holes

I bet those items arent too readily available in Tokyo  . But I bet shipping may still be less to Japan than it is to Canada

I figured rust protection too perhaps. And YEAH, probably cheaper to Japan!!!!!!! :Dou:

According to the VIN he has listed this isn't a Flint car so that should tell a lot right there.

You guys remember the yellow GSX that was from Japan and sold on ebay. High bidder was cedarbluff with price of $74,000. Does anybody know if cedarbluff is from the USA. Would be interesting to know where this car ended up at. Pat

According to ebay community "cedarbluff" is registered in Texas. But there is also a "cedarbluffs" in Kansas and a "cederbluff" in Kansas.

    Duane,

Awhile back there was an article in the GSXTRA about this one with a picture of it. I think the story came from Dennis Manner.- It was a 10/10 4 speed car though. I seem to recall it had the Stage 2 hood on it in the picture also.

    Regards,

    Eric

I have a pic of the cowl tag which is FL so I feel it is a Flint car. I found my old pics and made just a couple of other observations:

It is not rust free on the bottom or in the trunk.

An auxillary Comp brand vacuum pump is mounted under the hood in front of the washer bottle.

As best as I can tell the front spoiler has a texture and I assume it is made of fiberglass, not ABS as original.

The VIN he has listed is NOT the actual VIN, he's simply listed the numbers off of the body tag.

Well, geez. My brother lives in Tokyo, but he just isn't all that Buick-knowledgable. He wouldn't know a 69 from a 73. He is a sharp guy, though.

If it were me, I'd stay away from it because of the high potential for fraud that it sounds like we have here, but to each their own, I suppose. Is there anyone interested enough in buying this that you want me to hit my brother up for a favor and take a look at it?

Yes, I see he has finally listed a "real" VIN. However, that VIN would be in the correct range to be an "X", but the body number is WAY too low to match that VIN. Interesting...................

    Thanks for pointing that out.

I knew that VIN couldn't be right, but it was too late last night for further investigation.

I did a lot of research on this car, as Jim and Duane referred to. I bought a 70 Stage1 from him a few months ago on ebay and had it shipped back to USA from Japan. He was more than helpful getting this done. His business is selling cars for export, mostly RHD cars. If you check his other auctions you'll see he has a couple used RHD jeeps for sale, which seem to be popular for rural mail carriers. So transporting cars is a routine affair for him, and he's not running a scam whereby you send money and get nothing. If you send money you'll get the car advertised, and he'll work hard and spend a lot of time helping you get it through customs.

As for this car, I had it verified by Wayne Roberts that is an original 10-10 GS Stage1, highly optioned. One of two cars ordered on a special order and billed to an internal GM code, not a valid dealer code as far as we could determine. What was special about the order is not clear. It has the Stage2 intake and carb on it, Stage1 heads and headers. It has most all options except AC because supposedly you couldn't order Stage2 with AC. It has a few after market mods like DS loop, traction bars, vacuum can, etc. Looks like it was raced for a time after it hit the street.

The hood is repainted, with gloss black striping. It is a very interesting prospect to be sure. I wasn't willing to gamble on it in the mid $30s, but if the history could be proven that it really is one of the early publicity cars it may pay off for someone. I will say again that I know the seller is a stand up guy and will make sure that it gets delivered to the buyer, if it gets bought. I am not suggesting that anyone should or should not buy it. Also am not sure if the numbers match on this or not, as far as I remember I could never verify that one way or the other.

The VIN is 446370H208709 build 12B and body 001297. I have an 03B built VIN 260228, so I am not sure why someone is saying that the VIN series isn't right. Based on my reference points I don't have a problem with it.

The Vin is very close to my 12B Stage 1...so that checks.

We know the SCO is not for the 10-10 paint, so what is it?
There is something special about this one?:Brow:

Do you remeber the Holley number on the original stage 2 set up? As I recall it was an 800 cfm unit. Dual line?

I want to look at the one on the car and see if it matches up to what was used on a stage 2 set up.

    Hi Duane-

That's car #4085 that I talked to you about.
Dennis sent me a copy of a "INTER-DEPARTMENTAL MEMORANDUM" stating, and I quote, "Engineering GSX car 4085 equipped with Stage II manual trans engine will be loaned to the Public Relations Department for magazine coverage in the Los Angeles zone."
It goes on about some other info.

Also, If it were a Stage II car it would NOT have a/c...Kustom brand headers do not fit GS's with a/c.

As for some more of the other onfo...
Quote; "For further modification of the engine, Edelbrook Intake Manifold Model B-4-B is recommended with 850 CFM Model R-4781 Holley Carburetor."

From my information it was an 850 not an 800. An 850 double pumper carries the Holley number 0-4781. The carb is still available under the Holley "classic series"
