Kerry s. Is Jesus YOUR Lord?

My Cystic Fibrosis and associated further degrading health conditions (as well as a second divorce) forces this EXTREMELY DIFFICULT decision for me. My energy level and overall breathing capacity and other health-related problems continue to be almost non-existent for me to be able to complete these (not to mention the ever-mounting medical bills and such). I sit and try to think of how to complete either one but even the mere thought exhausts me to the point of doing what I NEVER THOUGHT I would ever do….sell them. ESPECIALLY the thought of my selling my beloved convertible that has been in my possession since Oct 12, 1988. My ignorant youth’s way of thinking that I would NEVER part with it and “would be buried with it” has finally came full-circle in that it has come time to swallow my pride and my ego and do the once unthinkable, finally come to realize what’s truly important in my life…

I will attempt to list all I have but I will probably, more-than-likely, miss something here or there so even if it’s not listed here in this ad I will include it as part of this. Difficult as this is I PREFER to sell as an entire, complete package as I do not want to part here and part there. I really do not have the strength anymore to box and this and box and ship that. If at all needed or possible several COULD go in together and divide up or sell or whatever route they would choose…up to and including the dreaded and often discussed subject here on the board of “re-selling”. I will not have a problem with that. I would like for these to end up as far from me as possible as I really want them to go to good Buick-Loving homes and with good TRUE Buick-Loving owners but not in that I would have to see them on the road somewhere, as that would just add to grief of letting them go. Maybe I’m being foolish here and if I am, please bear with me as this is NOT an easy decision for me by any means…I will sell them to whomever buys them regardless of where they go.

For Sale… Package (EVERYTHING listed from here on out..) as a WHOLE….Sloan Museum Documented 1 of 126 made 1970 GS455 4-speed convertible, Triple Black now (Original J-J-5 color code…Burnished Saddle body, Sandalwood top, 189 Trim code…Burnished Saddle buckets). Car was already painted black when I purchased in Oct 1988. A few (very few though) nicks, chips and scratches here and there but have been told that lacquer is pretty easy to fix. Top was original but previous owner had attempted to use vinyl paint as it was then white but peeling and each side panel was split from age and covered with duct-tape.:Dou: Top was replaced by me in Spring of 1989 (boy was that fun!) and that one lasted a couple of years until someone decided to relieve me of my stereo equipment by cutting a huge “sun-roof” type hole in it to gain access. From that point on car has always been garaged since. It was not until 1999 I then had the top again replaced but professionally along with all hardware, pads, well-liner, boot and such, top is STILL as new and fresh as it was when installed 10 years ago! New top pump, new hydraulic lines and new lift cylinders were all installed and works beautifully. All hinge points of top frame tight and goes up and down smoothly. Entire interior was also original when I purchased but everything was severely cracked and worn and it too had been thru a weak attempt to cover the original color and condition with black vinyl paint. The seats had good foam and were in good shape once I stripped everything. I recovered with Legendary Auto Interiors covers front and back. All door panels are new Legendary. I managed to locate a correct black non-A/C dash pad in excellent shape. New black carpet also of coarse. Factory tachometer and gauges did not work when I got car but I sent them to an automotive restoration gauge company to refurbish and calibrate, I forget whom it was but tach and gauges work perfectly since their return. Under dash between ashtray and glove box are (6) AutoMeter gauges in individual black cups, all tastefully done and completely removable with no detection they were ever there if you don’t want them there other than each small mounting hole on the underside lip. Car does currently have a 10-point chro-moly cage with removable door bar installed that can be easily cut back out and patches put right back in floor. Underside of car is POR-15 coated (as is interior floors) from to rear so it is very clean under there. TA Perf. 3” exhaust w/DynoMax Ultra Flo mufflers. There’s a new sumped gas tank with neck as well as an original ’70 tank that is in perfect condition (has original undercoating on bottom-side) but does not have it‘s neck. A braced and black powdercoated Moser 9” rearend with a HD Strange Iron Case and HD Aluminum Pinion Support, Strange Billet Steel 1350 Series Yoke, 35-spline Detroit Locker originally set-up with 4.30 Richmond Gears but currently has 3.50 gear set, 4.30’s were just TOO much! Rearend “hung” using Metco ADJ uppers and SSM Lowers w/Hotchkis braces tying top and bottom arm frame mounting points together. Entire front and rear suspension is Poly-Graphite and never had a problem with squeaking. 15X7 Rallye Rims wearing P245/60/R15 front and P275/60/R15 rear raised white letter “Grand Sport” tires still have molding “nipples” with less than 2000 miles on them. Denny’s “Nitrous Ready” chro-moly driveshaft to mate the Muncie to the 9”. Muncie not in car at this time as there is no engine installed at this time either. Driveshaft loop. Battery was relocated to trunk but not there anymore. NOS grille. Bumpers front and back beautifully rechromed and backs coated with Silver POR-15. Car had ‘Stage 1’ fender emblems on car as did ram-air cleaner when I first purchased and for several years I thought it was as I knew of no way to authenticate it at that time. Car was last on road Aug ’99 when I blew the 464ci Stage3 in it. I came to the realization it is too valuable of a muscle car with being 1 of 126 built Big Block 4-speed convertible to continue to race it so I parked it. It is kept in my shop under car cover and is brought out every couple of months or so and washed since. I purchased my Regal with the plan to get it done as my “toy” then get back to convertible and make it a factory-appearing cruiser again. “Engine-cradle” part of the front frame has been “notched” and made removable to ease removal of oil pan for bearing inspection. An excellent (NO evidence of EVER being wrecked in any way) rolling ‘72 Skylark convertible frame w/8.5” rearend (a NIB 30-spline Detroit Locker and an excellent original GM 3.42 gear set for this included as this was my plan to sell the Moser and put the re-done 8.5“ under the ‘vert) will be included also as will several blocks, cranks, heads, timing covers, ect of both 455‘s and 350. MANY good body parts, extra convertible window glass, rear bumper, seats and LOTS of other stuff ALL go with. Between my shop, the attic above my shop, my spare bedrooms, my 10X14 shed out back and my Mother’s garage there are Buick parts EVERYWHERE that will be included!

1986 Black exterior/Burgundy(Maroon) interior Regal….Body straight but does have it’s share of those “parking lot scratches and minor dings”. Paint is somewhat oxidized here and there (a good wet-sanding should clean it right up and bring back the shine) and the clear coat is lifting in a few spots on the hood only. That was not a problem for me in that I was going to go with a fiberglass hood anyway. A buddy of mine, well his step-kids, were playing around it and somehow the driver’s side of the windshield next to the a-pillar is cracked from something hitting it so it will need to be replaced, of course "NO ONE" did it as I'm sure we've all heard kids say that. :) Has the half/vinyl top, it has a split at the very top forward center point. Car is in the middle it’s transformation to a light & fast but streetable car. Interior in excellent condition but does need headliner. (2) New Kirkey Pro Street Drag Aluminum race seats with mounting hardware and also the plush original 60/40 split bench in very good condition too. A Custom-Built Dash by Performance Instruments (cost OVER $1500 !) using AutoMeter UltraLite gauges designed by me (pic’s elsewhere on this site if you do a search). AutoMeter UltimateII Playback DualChannel 9000rpm tach (part #6884). Car has A/C and new heater core but tracked down (2) different original GM A/C delete “kits”, even has ALL hardware and ductwork including correct dash control AND the correct glove box in the original Burgundy (Maroon) color!! There’s a good 40lbs or so loss right there from what I‘ve read. Other weight loss items include aluminum bumper mounting brackets (replaces 5-mph “energy absorbers“, but also have NOS those too). A rare and hard to find original GM aluminum core support (not installed yet). Aluminum front bumper reinforcement, not installed instead the Canadian Only individuals are. (2) 84-85 front original GM GN air-dam spoilers. Original GM GN 5-piece rear spoiler (NOT a cheap fiberglass repo!). I drilled out the spot welded in spare tire housing and replaced with a rolled and broke piece of 16 gauge so that it looks factory and opens up all kinds of room under trunk. A 20gal w/GM sending unit aluminum cell in trunk with dual -10AN outlets to feed into MagnaFlow -10AN to -12AN “Y” into a Aeromotive 100 micron filter (12302) directly into a Aeromotive Eliminator Pump (11104) (-12 inlet/-10outlet) then in to 10 micron Aeromotive filter (12301) up to the Aeromotive EFI "Bypass" Regulator (13101). All powered thru Aeromotive’s Fuel Pump Controller (16302) for street usage. Earl’s black Ano-Tuff fittings and Earl’s ProLite 350 black fabric hose (-10 forward, -08 back, 20 feet of each) for planned E-85 usage. Rearend is another braced and black powder coated Moser 9” with HD Bolt-Thru Moser Aluminum Center Section holding a 35-spline Detroit Locker, Richmond 3.70 gears, billet steel 1350 series pinion yoke. Moser all new rear brake set-up, drums cryo’d and powdercoated black. Kirban driveshaft safety loop. TOTAL COMPLETE HR PartsNStuff rear suspension incuding DBL ADJ uppers w/HD Delrin bushings, (2) pairs of Lowers w/HD Delrin (also a pair of extra ¼“ longer too to better center the rear tires in the wheel well!). HR’s Super Sway Bar, welded HR’s frame braces. Hotchkis frame braces tying upper frame mounts to the lower frame mounts. (2) different pair of the American Racing Vector “T-Type look-a-like” rims, 15 X 8.5”. One pair has new MT 295/65/R15 ET Street Radials mounts and balanced and second pair has new Hoosier Pro Street 29.5X12.5X15 Radials. Both fit with NO frame notch (Also included is a complete custom kit to do so though!) and NO fender rolling! Front rims are original Buick T-Type 15X7 with Hoosier Pro Street fronts. Front suspension is Global West Drag Tubular Uppers and Lowers w/Delrin bushings and AFCO "Low Friction" Ball Joints. QA-1 Coil-overs. (2) pair of slotted and drilled Summit Racing cryo’d rotors. SSBC “Quick Change” aluminum calipers w/pads. Summit/SSBC Proportioning Valve and Hurst Roll Control "Line Lock" kit. Russell braided brake hoses front and rear set. All steering components replaced with Moog components except box itself (There‘s WAY OVER $10,000 in just the rearend, front and rear suspension and braking system including wheels and tires!). Guys...There is NO reason why this Regal with the right kind of finishing work, weight removed in all the right spots and good tuning can not be a 9 second fully-streetable car!

This is what I have for now….I have NOT been in my shop attic yet to give a list of it’s contents to add here as my convertible is currently parked under the drop-ladder access. I will add as soon as I can get up there but am waiting for my nephew to come over and give me a hand.

Now neither car is running. The convertible has no engine (built but I have a few cores to build from that will ALL be included) and the transmission is not installed (has Lakewood BlowProof Bellhousing w/containment plate but NO clutch and pressure plate) but the car needs very little otherwise. The decision as to whether the cage stays or goes would be first. If the cage goes, whomever buys is more than welcome to use my Snap-On plasma cutter to remove it and my Millermatic 180 MIG welder to restore the floorboards back and reinstall the new stock interior back in it. They are also more than welcome to work on whatever they want here for a few days (I have two spare bedrooms although when the ex-wife and step-kids left there are no beds in either….Sorry ) if they would like doing whatever they would like to accomplish. The above 469ci engine is ready for assembly after a thorough cleaning (I also have a Craftsman 2300psi gas-powered Pressure Washer that needs a good workout). I have a 2-post Bend Pak lift that is ready and willing to be put to work! Put as much of either car together as you would like here. I would enjoy seeing that, I REALLY would guys! If I’m able to help I will… :TU:

I have NO IDEA what kind of a price to put on all this at but as per board rules I will attempt to start somewhere. I hope this is not viewed as an insulting asking price but here goes….

I would like to get $70,000 out of the entire package (A starting point at least? :Do No: I don't have junk here though!) which included BOTH cars, ALL listed above (and whatever else I continue to find and think of to add to package) and ALL of my Buick memorabilia too. As I locate more items I will add it to the ad or I will give to the buyer(s) (even IF I find it after the sale!).

Both cars are above-left in my avatar… I will be more than happy to get pic’s of whatever is requested. I have tried to the best of my ability to be truthful and honest in my descriptions and will publicly correct things if at all necessary! :)

Again….I would like to Thank ALL my Buick Brothers (and Sisters!) here for the prayers, the thoughts, the camaraderie and the friendships I’ve come to gain here. Those are ALL VERY VALUABLE things for one like me to have! Thank You so much EVERYONE… :)

    Kerry,
This kills me to read this. I'm very sorry that it has to come to this, but yet I realize what you're going through and at some point in everyones life we reach a stage that requires a "rebirth", if you will. We all need to do what we need to do!

I wish you all the best my friend. If I had the time & money I would buy and finish both your projects and let you use them when ever you wanted.

    Hang in there!!!

    Steve

"GSXer" (Sorry but I do not know your first name...),

Here are pic's I took last evening after my nephew was able to get over to help me get them out of my shop. It's been cloudy here and my camera, even though a digital Sony, is about 10 or 12 yrs old so it's not as crisp and clear as the current ones are. If you require more please feel free to just say so. :TU:

I realize a "package deal" may be a long-shot for me but getting everything gone at once will do wonders for my stress level right now. I just don't have the strength to sell this and to ship that here and there. If I did I think I could continue to work on and maybe get these done. Frankly, I'm just plain exhausted, all the time! And the fact that it's just that there seems to be SO MUCH going on right now for me that my thinking is this way will be the quickest and simplest for me. I hope that you and others are able to, in some way, understand possibly where I'm coming from. Actually I don't know if I've ever been at a much lower point in life but that's probably sharing more than I should or need to... :) I will say that's it's great to have SO MANY friends here! :TU:

My asking price IS BY NO MEANS a firm price..., I just had no idea where to start out at?!?! As I stated before...neither are junk by any stretch of the term. :)

    Here you are...

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Would be easier to sell them individually with their parts included.....in this economy......$50k+ for cars is going to limit your buyer pool to a very very small group. Just an idea to consider.:TU:

Sorry about all of this Kerry, I remember seeing your 70 over 10 years ago, and thought it was cool then. Very neat car. Would love to have it, but need to do some cleaning on my end first. Take care Tony

Thank You for your input and suggestion George, it's just I NEED to get EVERYTHING gone and I feel seperating the cars and stuff will just end up being a big pain that I'm just not really physically able to deal with. That doesn't mean that IF it does come down to it I will not, it's just that I'm attempting to try and do this as cleanly and painlessly as possible and this way does at least seem that it would work better for me. :)

I'm going to drop my asking price as I DO realize this economy is no ones friend right now...

    Thanks again George...:)

Kerry s. Is Jesus YOUR Lord?

    Hello Everyone....

I'm going to drop my ASKING price by $20,000 down to...

$50,000 for EVERYTHING, the entire kit-n-kaboodle!...

I REALLY NEED to try and sell EVERYTHING as a one-shot, winner-take-all deal. I just do not feel I have the strength to deal with all the work of selling this here and that there, then the shipping and so on. I'm in and out of the hospital so much these days it just makes things VERY difficult for me as I never know when my next "visit" will be...

Whomever (individual or partners) can buy and turn around and sell as they see fit...I will IN NO WAY have a problem with that. :TU:

I will add that the convertible also has the GSCA Street/Strip front and rear springs with 70/30 front and 50/50 Lakewood shocks too as I noticed I neglected to include that tidbit earlier. I'm sure I will continue to think of more things that pertain to both cars... :)

Thank You All once again! :)

Kerry do you have an idea of say what % each one is worth are they both 50% or maybe the Regals 70% of the asking price? Maybe someone interested in the Regal can team up with me on the purchase?

    Hi Joe,

Sorry for the delay in answering back. My grandparents (both in their upper 80's) came for a weekend visit (haven't seen them for over a year now due to their living in Arizona now) so I haven't even been online since Friday night. :)

Anyway...NOT to be "standoff-ish" or anything like that, but I really do not know how to value them in a seperate manner. With all the stuff I have that COULD be used for either car if one so chooses. :Do No: Even without all the additional I have here I wouldn't honestly know how to value them in a percentage manner. As I said before, the ENTIRE time I've owned the convertible, my inmature-prideful youth always thought I'd keep it forever. Just goes to show how life will ALWAYS have the last laugh when it come time to humble someone.

BUT...IF I were to take somekind of guess it would be maybe 60/40 in favor of the convertible but it WOULD ULTIMATELY ALL DEPEND on what actually ended up going with what car to make this a valid quote or not. :Smarty: :)

I Was Thinking About Coming Over And Helping You Put The Convertable Together So You Can Sell It For What It Should Be Worth. Where Are You Located? Randy

    Hello Guys,

Scott...PM was answered and returned to you. :TU:

Randy...Thank You for that offer. I have a nice shop in which to work in pretty much but my health severely is limiting my strength. That's one of the biggest reasons I've given up on getting them done, that and ever-mounting medical bills and such just after my recent divorce and just other personal matters. :(

I'm pretty much in the center of the state, Decatur. About halfway between Springfield and Champaign on I-72, so about 40 miles west of I-55 and about 40 miles east of I-57 either coming down from Chicago. This will soon be the infamous city (Home of ADM and it's price fixing scandal circa 1993) in which the new Matt Damon movie "The Informant", centers around and was filmed in last year. It's suppose to be released in a couple of weeks. (Sorry, got a little off track here didn't I? :) )

Thank you ALL again...I appreciate ALL responses and such offers. :)

    Hello Everyone,

I want to announce that this package is now in "Sale Pending" status. Chris Skaling (aka..'Buicksstage1') has stepped up. He has given me permission to involve his name as to his intentions and interests. They are for the convertible and the 469ci engine assembly and MAYBE a few other things. He has expressed that probably everything else will be "up for grabs" via him so if anyone has a paticular thing or things from the list that they are interested in to give him a PM or e-mail with your desires. He will start a list at that point. Any further questions can be answered thru Chris. Again, this is all done with his verbal permission. :TU:

Thank you ALL again for your prayers, thoughts and well-wishes for me. I DO appreciate them ALL! :)

Thank you Chris for stepping up at this time and I look forward to our finally meeting! :TU:

It was good to see your back home and you sounded great on the phone today. I'm still in the process of trying to price everything and break it down. Like Kerry has said, I only want the GS and all the parts to put it back together so everything Regal related will be sold. Pm me if you have interest in these parts. Thank you Kerry:TU: Chris
