depending on the backspacing, the tire could rub against the rear of fender line on sharp turns, but would not usually on the fender lips.
i am using 15x7 rallyes with 245r60x15 all around.
with 8" rims, u can run wider tires, more rubber to the ground.

If I plan to run 255/60's all around, do I want 7" or 8" rims?

    Thanks

There is absolutely no down side to running the 8" rims. The wider rim gives more support to a wider tire. Tread stability, traction, and handling are better. 255/60-15 is the biggest tire I would run on a 7" rim, but I know some who run a 275/60-15 on the 7" rim. It really wants an 8" wide rim. On the 1970-72 Skylark/GS, 4 1/2" backspacing works great on the 15 X 8" rim

Hi Larry-Thanks for the reply. So, am I to understand that if running 255/60's all around, the 8" rim won't rub any more/less than a 7" rim?

Where would you recommend buying Repro 8" rims?

What came finish came stock on Buick Rallys, chrome or matte?

    Thanks again

No worries about rubbing, and the extra inch of rim width makes no difference as long as the back spacing is correct.

There are a number of sources for Repro Buick Rallye wheels. Just do a search on this board and you will see. There is a member here that makes them also.

The stock wheels had the center section and spokes in a brushed finish. My wheels are all chromed. I like the chrome better, but the brushed are correct if that really matters to you.

No problems with rubbing, I went with 8" rims to get more rubber on the ground. The only rubbing issue is at the bottom of the tires. :Brow: :TU:
