Just pulled out the seats from my project and trying to decide if just replacing the padding and upholstery is a good route or if I should replace the entire assembly. The springs are still springy
That seat can be restored no problemo. The frame and springs are probably in good shape. Worst case, you can get the frame bead blasted if its rusted. From the factory, the frames weren't even painted. An upholstery shop can repair any broken seat springs. The covers and foam are available from Legendary Interiors.

Not sure of other options, dad didn't tell me a lot about this car prior to his passing. I did get in contact with Mike and he had previously talked to dad about purchasing the car. He was able to track down numbers and said that a lot of the big parts (engine, trans, carb, distributor etc) are aftermarket. So it'll take some tracking down to figure out exactly what dad did to this car.
Lots of help on here. I'd also recommend a Sloan or Wayne Roberts report (depending on serial number as to who has the info) which will list all of the original info. (Options, colors, orig. selling dealership, etc.). Post a pic of the trim tag if yiu wouldn't mind and if you're interested in the reports someone will get you the contact info.
I have another thread in the Wet Behind The Ears page that has a pic of the trim tag. I believe Mike has the Wayne Robert's reports, he should be emailing them to me.
That's an understatement! JesiM- There are some Buick GS nut jobs on here that can identify any nut, bolt, screw or clip on that car and tell you exactly where it goes or if its correct for your year.
Excellent that Mike had that report & is sending it to you. Would love to see it when you get it. I find it ironic how many of the "stripper" cars were still ordered with a vinyl top - My Stage 1 4-sp. Stripper has one too.
Do you have the orig. shifter? If so, curious what shifter handle/ball it had. Orig. would've been black with the shift pattern engraved. Most originals on Buicks seemed to get replaced early on and I'd guess yours prob. had a T-Handle, but we also know of cars that came out of the factory with the wrong shift ball. If you don't have one, they're not super hard to get and Jason (buick64203) has a great tutorial on rebuilding them. Also, the available repro carpet does not fit the 4-sp. hump, but with some finesse (hot sunny days, strategically placed bags of sand) it can be re-formed to fit pretty darn well. If you'll be replacing the floor, save that shifter hump. It's a Buick only piece and is not reproduced. They literally torched a hole in the floor on the assembly line (look @ from underneath & you'll see how crude it is), spot welded the hump in, and brushed on the seam sealer.
Interestingly, on Flint Built cars (as you may already know, all Stage 1's were built @ Flint, which was the only assy. plant Buick controlled - all other plants were General Motors Assembly Division, or GMAD) the trim tag is normally not painted. Yours is either an anomaly or someone painted it somewhere along the way.
