    Troy,

I am not an expert, but if I am reading Jim Mitschke (monzaz) comments above correctly, it sounds like the 2.78 and 2.93 gears used the same carrier, and they can be shimmed for use with the 3.42 gear sets.

I would recommend anyone who needs any differential work to contact Jim since he has helped several board members (including me), and really does know what he is doing. He has spent a lot of time researching and setting up 68-70 Buick only differentials, and will save you a lot of time and money since he knows what works and more importantly what doesn't. :TU:

Lets keep this at the top. I hope I don't hear anyone crying about gears if this doesn't go through.

Alright where do I find a shop phone number to converse on the 8.2 and the 3.42 and this worn cone carrier? Thanks

Send a PM to Jim Mitschke asking for his phone # and he will give it to you. http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?u=3880

James has done an excellent job championing the effort. Keep it up.

If anyone reading this knows anyone at all that may be intersted and does not regularly visit the board please tell them about it. This is our only avenue of getting commitments right now. Please tell anyone you know to get a set while they can.

I am around 70mph doing 3000 rpm with 3.42s. Not too bad.
