1970 Buick Rear End Ring and Pinion

I am not an expert, but if I am reading Jim Mitschke (monzaz) comments above correctly, it sounds like the 2.78 and 2.93 gears used the same carrier, and they can be shimmed for use with the 3.42 gear sets.

I would recommend anyone who needs any differential work to contact Jim since he has helped several board members (including me), and really does know what he is doing. He has spent a lot of time researching and setting up 68-70 Buick only differentials, and will save you a lot of time and money since he knows what works and more importantly what doesn't. :TU:

 

Lets keep this at the top. I hope I don't hear anyone crying about gears if this doesn't go through.

I am around 70mph doing 3000 rpm with 3.42s. Not too bad.

 

I've got a nice set of 70 3.42 gears on EBAY right now.
