There have been some recent inquiries on the Gsx and one question that seems to get asked is what rear end is in the car.
Just to make absolute sure, I removed the differential cover today and checked the ring and pinion.
It is a 3.64 geared posi rear end in the Gsx.
I'm working to get some pics of the under side. I don't have a lift so this might get interesting. Thanks to all who have checked the car out. My hope is that the car remains in the Buick community and enjoyed for what it really is....a Chevy/Mopar killer, both in looks and performance.:3gears:

hmmm...do you still have the correct carb and distributor? If reading this correct though, the block and 4 speed tranny are not number correct? rear end is?

    Hi KC,
The original distributor and carburetor are not available. My guess is the parts went with the engine when it was blown. I'll never know for sure.

I was curious if you knew the cars history? Is it originally from New York? I ask this because that exact car was sold new here at Bruce Buick in Glens Falls,New York to a local guy. He blew the motor 3 times in a year and the trans a few times also. It was then sold to another local guy who sold it to somebody South of Albany somewhere. Think this is the car???:Do No:

    Hi,

Although I don't know the step-by-step provenance of the car, I do know that it was originally purchased in Kentucky. Wayne Roberts' documentation confirms that. I knew the owner prior to me personally. He was originally from central Kentucky and bought it in Harrodsburg or Danville, KY. I think he said that was in 1976 or so. I can't be sure of the year. The engine was already having trouble by then, having been blown by a former owner, the first or second I think. I am the third or fourth owner, not sure.

I have scans of Wayne's documentation, along with lots of other photos, at: http://picasaweb.google.com/lheisey/Gsx

The car has been in the Ithaca, NY, area since the late '70s or early '80s. I have owned it since 1995.

    Cheers,

The dates are about right when it left the area here but it obviously isn't the car. I'd be all over it but too much $ for me to put out at a time like this for a toy. Somebody will get a great car from what I can see. Good luck with the sale!:TU:

Thank you! It's an awesome car. I can't say often enough that it's solid, fast and fun. It'll make someone really happy, whether they continue to build it up or put it back to bone stock. I'll miss it.

    Cheers,
    Laura

Very nice car, I love it just the way it is. But I have a thing for modified Buicks:TU:

Yea, I like it the way it is, too. So much had been broken or removed over the many years before I got the car that I gave Joe free reign over it. He had been amassing a stash of really good parts that he generously put into my car, i.e. Stage 1 heads, pistons, rebuilt TH400 transmission, etc. He's really good at big block Buick build-ups and has a thing for extreme power. And I gotta say that once I made my first trip to the Nationals in 1996, I developed a thing for extreme power, too. That aspect of my personality really confuses my friends. I'm a mild-mannered, quiet, calm, slightly geeky person, I work in a library for cryin' out loud, and my favorite smells are racing fuel and tire smoke.

Joe refuses to put a roll cage in the car, so we can't take it to the drag strip anymore. Last time we went, he got thrown off for a mid-11 second run, which really is a good thing for the sake of his safety. :TU:

    Laura,

I noticed the second ebay auction was ended early. Did the car sell outside of ebay, or did you guys decide to keep it?

It sounds wicked! Very nice GSX! :3gears:

Thanks to all who checked out the Gsx. I am pleased to announce that the Gsx is no longer available and its new home will be with another true Buick fan. We couldn't be happier about that and it was NOT sold on Ebay. The new owner will no doubt take the car back to its original state and enjoy the car for what it is, one of the best muscle cars ever produced.
