100% factory original...what do you think? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GS-/400449799893?forcev4exp=true#ht_62439wt_1165
Nice looking car but states "all original" while stating (a) it has a Carter carb, which should be a Quadrajet and (b) a "Super Turbine" 3 speed automatic, when should be a THM400 as ST-400's weren't available in 1969. Guess that latter one could be a semantics error on his part, but underscores the possibility he may be assuming more than he actually knows. Interesting there are no under chassis, under-hood or trunk pictures. Probably legitimate, but for that kind of money and in view of the Carter carb would want to see something showing matched numbers. Guy appears to be an Ebay curbstoner, with multiple makes and models for sale, so he may not even be sure about it.
my cousin bought a 1 owner 57000 mile 70 Riviera from Peoria,Arizona for $6000 in 2009 and it wasnt the same color as his refrigerator:kodak: typical car flipper looking for a dope with money:spank:
My numbers matching tranny is a Super Turbine 400. Nothing is absolute. What a beautifil Rivvy though. Might be asking a lot but try restoring one to look like it for less. It is almost perfect. Every detail.
Pretty sure that car was on Ebay late last year. Nice and all, but what leads some sellers to think their 2nd gen Riviera will command that much money? Gads, that sweet looking 34,000 mile Riviera Red '66 with a buy it now of $23,500 is still being listed over and over again because it never meets reserve. I think it was first listed 6-7 months ago.
Engine compartment wasn't repainted just detailed...how about the 430-4 valve cover decals...never saw them on a stock 69 430 riviera engine. I thought they quit doing that in 1969 but I might be wrong...
Carter made Q-Jets Rochester couldnt keep up with demand...it says Carter made for GMC on the side where it usually says Rochester...its factory...and could be correct, so a novice looking at it, could assume its a carter carb instead of a q-jet heres a 67 Firebird 400 carb
Wow that is a real beauty. Why is it when these cars show up they are the earthtone colors. Imagine if it was black or another killer color. A GS with beautiful shifting console, black plate car. Nice. It is in stunning condition. The valve cover decal does look like a repro. It has so many good things going for it but the color will hold it back.
That is an almost duplicate of my 69. But mine is Lime Green and this is Olive beige. Both similar shades. The earth tones were popular back then. Yeah, its alot of money but Im sure there's some wiggle room there. Aside from the price, the car is right on the money. Factory pinch clamps on the heater hoses. "GS" emblems in just the right place. Its got that crisp look that only a factory original low mileage survivor has. Tons of paperwork too. Obviously, the car has been meticulously maintained all of its life. If you wanted the nicest, original 69 Riv GS out there, this is probably it. I doubt you could duplicate this car for the money being asked. Also bear in mind that 10 years from now, 33,500 will sound like a screaming deal for a car like this.
Yes, the factory hose clamps...but what about the factory heater hoses? He can make an offer on the ones on my engine. This Riviera is not as original as you may expect for $33,900 It looks great...but you have to look through the looks right!
I think its the real deal but way to much $$"s. It is the same color combo as my 68 was inside and out. UGLY! My car was more optioned. He's missing rear defogger, Cruise control and the ever popular Delco Stereo. Also No ACC which might be a +. I've got 10K less than his asking price in my car. I paid 2800.00 and it had 62K on it.
Wow It is a shade of green. Before now, I had only viewed it using my iPhone, and it looked closer to a Cream in color. While green is one of my least favorite colors in this world, I could live with this one. It isn't a common color either which in a sense should make this car a little more desirable. I say realistically this is a $15,000.00 car.
Also, looks like an incorrect power antenna. The original stands several inches tall even when fully retracted.
Thats the way its supposed to be. ---------- Post added at 02:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 PM ---------- When I bought my 70 Stage 1 4 speed in 2004, I paid 13,500. Sounds like a great deal right? But it wasnt. Some of you may have even walked away from it . That was "all the money" for it. Now, its worth signifigantly more. Same with this car. Maybe its not worth 33,500, but you can always drop your price. Is it worth 28k? 26k? If you look back 10 years, will 28k seem like a bargain? Probably so
Sure is a cherry looking car from the pictures. Really really clean. The color though is kinda uzzled: 34K sounds crazy to me but what do I know. Here are a couple pics so you don't have to flip over to the bay.
I was wondering if you have a power antenna on your 69 Riviera? Does it look different on the quarter of your car? ---------- Post added at 09:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 PM ---------- I think the color is a matter of taste but personally I like the old colors. You just do not see these on a modern car. I owned a black 68 Riviera once which most people prefer but I prefer the typical colors from that era. Especially the olive, green, gold, etc. It makes it look more special I think.
