I have a feeling my $1000 dollar budget is about to go to hell thanks to winter blues.

Truth be told, ill be severely disappointed if i stick the stock cam back in there. So ive picked one out, waiting for the TA X-mas sale details, but it looks like itll be the TA 290-08H possibly the Lunati 33304.

Im probably getting a little ahead of myself, but ill find out tommorow what condition the crank is in!

Why wouldn't you just build the 350 to hold the power? That way you don't have to worry about modifying the drive shaft / trans mount, plus you could sell the 400 to recoup so of the cost of the 350 build.

You plan on installing a TA 290-08 cam in a stock 430 with no headers? :eek2:
I wouldn't do anything to it.....just install the rear sump pan and have fun if it's running ok :Do No:

It would cost me the same to rebuild the 430 as the 350. They cost me the same to obtain, and its time to go big block for me.

The 'dont do anything to it" thought has crossed my mind a couple times too, but i have the means to actually rebuild an engine for once, and i find the idea of a "fresh start" a bit more reassuring than trusting an older build or a used part.

So YES! i am thinking about putting that cam in a mildly worked over 430 :TU: .

Itll have a home port job, on the heads and the manifolds, and likely a 3" exhaust, but ill be on the lookout for headers. Ive decided against the stock torque converter though. Im trying to find a good deal on a 4spd, but if i cant ill get a 3000+ stall to put in.

Found out what condition the crank is in, so ill start a new thread with the actual build.
