Bill, Add what you can about the original build. We started working on a plan to get the car road worthy. Things are cleaning up very well. Dave
Jason it was painted 3 times. 1st time was diplomat Blue, Second time it was custom painted with ribbons down the side but sadly was side swiped 3 weeks later, 3rd time it was painted like it is now. I am going to keep the name of the car "3 is a charm" because I am the 3rd owner
Under the hood was also painted to match the white on the car. This is what it looked like back in the day. We plan to detail up a mild 350 to put into this GS later on.
The engine that is in there was very radical according to the builder. He started to take it apart to detune it. Will be quicker to drop in a running replacement to enjoy the car. The original motor need to be evaluated as the budget allows. There are some plans for it....
I don't want the current radical engine in the car as it does not fit my plans for the car. Current engine runs on race gas and I want a car I can do the power tour with as well as drive to shows. We plan to keep the original engine and go through it at a later date and time or just keep it on a stand. The replacement engine will be detailed out. Dave and I are trying to look at current vintage parts to make sure it fits with vintage look of the car.
Very cool update..... Gary a gentlemen that attended the estate sale saw the pictures of the car on facebook. He had bought all the trophies from the estate sale and has offered them to me for what he paid. Super cool car guy. I am excited to get these.
The trophy on the left is the one Bill is holding in those vintage pics. Glad you were able to reunite them with the car.
Man I cant believe how nice this car is. I am A Pittsburgh guy and was at those world of wheels shows when I was a teenager. I wanted to attuned that estate sale but could not. Im so glad this car ended up in your hands Ryan. Have tried to start the "radical engine" at all? I look forward to following this cars progress so please keep the updates coming. Hope its chop top brother ends up back with its original builder also....
I like it with the Keystone's on it.... I live over by Robinson Twp. Love it man.... That thing had to be a "panty dropper" back in the day....... that Buick, the bell bottoms and that sweet moustache..... lol.
Dave (Daves69) Brought over some headers he had coated years ago that he didn't use on a previous car. These headers will look awesome on this GS whenever we find a good running stock 350. Please if anyone knows of or has a good running 350 they would sell Please let me know.
Man...I just sold a near complete 70 SP motor to a Buick guy in Ohio..That would have been a great motor to build 315 hp 350 stock..
Now....you just need to go and find some bell bottoms, grow your hair out, & maybe get some platform heel boots!
Still looking for a running 350. Chris has offered me his IF and only IF he doesn't need it for a truck he building. Chris won't know till Jan IF he will use it or not so just in case he needs it I am going to continue looking for a running 350 engine.
