Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

RIP Bruno and my condolences to his family. Talked to Bruno at the Nationals and it was really great to see him once again. Only ever got to see him whenever we attended the Nationals at the same time. Great guy and he will truly be missed in the Buick community.

Very sorry to hear about Bruno. I only really knew him for about a year or so, but he treated me like a friend. A wealth of Buick knowledge. I'll never forget him. R.I.P.

  19. 69GS400s

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

1992 - I'm a few years out of college and making a decent amount of money (and living with my parents .. so lots of disposable income). I had driven a beat up '69 Skylark through college and a few years after but got rid of it because I needed a dependable car for work as a field tech in the burgeoning computer field. Now flush $$$ in my pocket, I decide I had missed my '69 Skylark enough to look for another .. not for every day but something to play with. A co-worker tells me about the "HotRod" scene on friday nights on Hempstead Turnpike and maybe I could find some Buick people up there so I go out to see what its all about. Cars of all types in parking lot after parking lot .. so I cruise the scene in my '87 ThunderBird TurboCoupe looking for Buicks until I finally spy a white 70s Buick with BIG rear tires. Finally a BUICK in this sea of chevy's, fords etc. I pull in and park but there is no one around it .. so I re-park my car so it is Butt to Butt with the buick and lean up against my trunk waiting for its owner to appear. I don't know anyone so Im just kinda standing there and soaking it all in ..

.. and up walks an older gentleman (Im 30 .. and he's 60?) who sees me looking at his ride and says " Hello .. you like my Buick?" Heck yeah I respond, and he asks if I would like to hear it .. Sure would!! he says "stay there so you can hear it better" .. ok ? and he proceeds to click the starter and rev it instantly to about 4,000 rpm nearly blowing me out of my sneakers !!!! Literally, I must have jumped at least 6 feet. After a few more revs he shuts it down and walks over laughing and says "Oh ! Im sorry .. I forgot to tell you it is a little louder than stock". We had a good laugh and introduced ourselves and talked for a bit .. telling him I am going to be looking for a 69 Convertible soon. He asks "stock or souped up?" I said stock for now, and he responded "Have you ever been in Buick that is a little more than stock?" "No ..", "Would you like to go for a ride in my Buick? its not that fast but it goes OK"

Over the next half hour, Bruno proceed to scare the crap out of me more times than I can count - I mean SCARED!! I had never been in something so Brutal, Loud, Awesome, and on the edge of control in my life. And he drove it like it was no big deal. No less than 3 times did people come up and "test" Bruno and several others pulled up and didn't even bother. They knew better ..

Bruno - I will miss you like I miss few others. You taught me so much .. not just about Buicks but life. 31 years of friendship is a long time but I wish longer.

May your memories be a blessing to all who know you and may they think of you often and smile.

My prayers for Stephanie and the whole Dipiola Family .. I will see you all on Thursday

PS - kick Moon in the nuts for me ;)
