Surprised you've had the car for two plus decades! I overheard a fellow Buick enthusiast remark how incomplete your GSX appears to be. What they probably don't know is how much original paperwork is still with this particular X. Probably few, if any GSX cars, have as much documentation. After thinking about it, isn't that far more meaningful than say a "matching numbers" engine block that may or may not have been done correctly at the factory, possibly no longer legible for one reason or another (decked, corrosion, etc.), or even the product of a re-stamp?
Brian, The car is well documented and I have even more paperwork than the copies that I made and displayed with the car at the reunion. Since car never left Ga. till my purchase someone had done a DMV title search that shows all prior owners the car had; plus I have other items. I can't believe I've had it 20 years either but it is my dream car and when I got it and my white GSX the next year it was a $$$ challange and I was paying child support and working 2 jobs plus my body shop at home on the side and life happened. I had actually experienced a bad case of car burnout the last 4 years + or so and closed my shop and had quit working on them almost totally and took up fishing for a hobby. My son helped me get the GSX out of storage and get it to the reunion and I believe the car bug has come back. Plans are to restore the yellow car's frame, belly of car, underhood, and drivetrain wise but leave outside alone for now and maybe be driving it next year or so hopefully. Then make the white car show car pretty next and a lot of work is completed on it already.
Awesome car. I saw the photos and knew there was something about that car. Paper work pedigree. just a cool car n story.
Thank you all that posted pics. If any one has a rundown on the 1971 and 1972 GSX cars in attendance pics, detail, factory driveline and option loads that would be great? Plus I see that there were 2 project GSX cars there on trailers, one was Rusty's Stage 1 4 speed GSX, the other was ....? Any other 70-72 GSX project cars?
There was a '71. I kinda walked up towards the end of a conversation the owner was having w/ @Mike Sobotka so didn't get a lot of the details.
Bob Christo's green 71 GSX was a Canadian delivered car. You guys probably saw it in Muscle Machines a few years back. Nice original car.
