guessing if I want to reinstall my passenger side kick vent recirculating door, heater core box and AC suitcase, I may be screwed since my body shop install the fenders, wheel wells and hood. Don’t think I can reach the vent screws behind the fender
Inner fender should be fairly easy to get out without the heater/ac box in the way was long as the overflow tank and battery/tray are not in it yet. The GM service procedure for replacing a blower/ac box on a fully assembled vehicle is to remove the inner fender. Put tape/newspaper around the exterior of your painted white fender to help keep from scratching and be careful pulling out the well.
Your scratching the fender. No two ways about it. The only question is how bad. Id pull the fender. Remember, the longest and hardest distance between two points is a short cut
Ok, I didn’t think the inner fender came out by itself. I thought you had to take the outer fender off to get the inner fender out.
The easiest way I've found is to take the bottom two fender bolts out and wedge something in there between the fender and the frame, 3in wide or so,.jack it up and pull the wheel,..start at the back and get it from behind the fender and work your way to the rad suppor. Be patient and take breaks walk away and come back to it,..they are aggravating no matter how many times you've done it Dont forget to pull the little plastic shield off and if possible take angle bracket off the firewall it hinders your movement if left in place If using butyl tape or the actual rope putty stuff spray some WD on it to keep it from rolling out of position when you slide it in place
Jason wth are talking about you know you use a dull hatchet or torch and cover with an old license plate
Talking about the Chassis Service Manual. You can get the CDs/DVDs that have the service and the Fisher Body manual together online for about $30-40 (ebay). They come in real handy, especially if you're not sure how to get something apart. They are year specific (for example 1971 Buick), which has the info for for Skylarks, Lesabre, Riveria, etc.
