I think I can fit 2 of these somewhere, somehow in my buick........watch out Gary I'm coming for you once I get this done......lol think bill will let me burn the sign down
I know for certain that I couldn't keep a motor together at my power levels for too long with only 50 year old factory refurbished parts. gets pricey having to go through 24 rods to get 8. sort through 5 blocks to get 1 that's buildable, that's alot of parts to buy that dont make the grade for my need. then to blow it all over the track. my wallets not that thick. I like the drivers too, wish I could drive one daily and make it fit my daily needs but as of now in life it doesnt. this is place unlike almost any other i seen. most buick ppl are not like most other out there. most ppl here go out of there way, take time everyday, several times a day to check the boards, help others, share what they know. what has worked for them, what hasn't so others dont waste time and money to do the same thing. give advice on how to save money. they sort through things in their barns for hours to find a 5 dollar part to help someone they dont know, never met, maybe never will meet, who lives 1000+ miles away. not many places like this out there. and the 1 connection is that little 5 letter nameplate. so factory, aftermarket, steel, aluminum, fiberglass, carbon fiber, billet, broken, rusty, dented, new, used, old, whatever. there is someone here that has one someone here the wants one, someone here that needs one. and it all can be found or at least pointed to in some form of direction here. I just need a hug
Been there and done that. The engine blew and immediately locked up the drivetrain for a second or two sending my '65 GS(455) sideways through the traps at Cecil at 110 mph on oil and water on two wheels(The same side!) after stock rods decided it was too many runs and too much rpm back at one of the early NE meets. BT5's head must be spinning when he reads about LS swaps. Any objections to those? I'm not a fan but if it turns them on I really don't care. However, IMO it in no way pushes the idea of Buick power forward at all. At least when you open the hood on an aluminum headed or even aluminum blocked 455 nobody would think it is a SBC or BBC or Pontiac or much of anything else for that matter. Even with the distributer in the front it still no it ain't no Ford or Chrysler BB. I've never once opened my hood and when quizzed about the heads and I said they were TA aluminum did anybody say "Well that's not a REAL Buick engine anymore."
I don't know... It's got a stock buick distributor in it.. How many 1000+HP engines of any make run a stock distrib housing? Not many.. It runs: Stock Buick bolt patterns Stock Buick bore centers Stock buick diameter .842 lifters Stock Buick oil pump gears Stock Buick timing cover Stock Buick distributor housing Stock type Buick timing chain Stock architecture of the camshaft (flange on the front) It's a heck of a lot more stock than any just about any other Buick that has reached that power level, and been verified on a dyno.. that's for sure. Although I will admit, when we finished it, we looked at each other and said " This beast don't look like any Buick I have ever seen"... It's waaaaay cooler... JW
I just wonder what the competition says next year when the Buick is ahead of them at the far end. Life sure is a chang’n in the Buick ranks! They will be dumb founded, not a Chevy, not a Ford , not a Chrysler, must be a new Toyota, Nope.
Eh this is a kin to thinking nascars are actually chevy camaros and ford mustangs. Again- I'm not trying to take anything away from the parts. They are awesome.
That's what they do. Ive seen more than a few run 12.30's bone stock. They're explosively fast. One guy at Musclepalooza had 2012 that had a reflash tune and a ram air kit and he was running high 11's with it. Why wouldn't her car do the same?
I hold Mooney to the same standard Your car doesn't run ____ unless you drove it down the track and have timeslip in hand. Ricer math is right.
