True enough, even though there aren't many people who would go and deal with people like those depicted in the shows; - I for one prefer people who are honest, and not swarthy, wise-cracking idiots who assume everyone else in the world is stupid and that only they know how to make money in the car business. I mean, really; you always see the "customer" for one of these cars, a pretty straight-laced looking dude forced to talk with some of these freakshow rejects, would anyone really deal with a clown who looked like he fell out of central casting? Let alone hire someone like that to work in a supposedly reputable shop...any of the asshats and primadonnas we had here don't seem to last very long... I guess it's all in what one thinks is entertainment. It's just too bad that the rest of the world then starts to look at the whole industry that way and treat them accordingly.
I have a friend that got all gassed up on getting an old car to "fix up" after watching these shows. Guy has no skills, a homeowners set of tools and totally clueless about "how it really is". He was actually contemplating buying a 68 Vette that got hit hard in the nose. He was trying to tell me that he found a one piece nose for only $1500. Like he was going to throw it on in his driveway on a Saturday afternoon. ou: I honestly didn't even know where to start in explaining it to him. I told him that "if your toolbox essentially consists of a checkbook and a pen, your getting into the wrong hobby"
Depends on how thick the checkbook is. Usually, the guys whose only 'injury' when building their car is a paper cut, are the biggest asshats. They stand in a group and criticize every car that goes by and get all 'panty-bunched' if they don't get a trophy for all the effort they put into not building their cars.
I always wanted a Cobra. It says in the instructions manual, it can be assembled in 3 weekends with basic hand tools. I have my Sears Tool Catalog & my credit card, what will I need to order? I want to be able to drive it to Monterey for the Concours there, from Southern FL.? (NOT knocking FL. Folk, just a Good distance for reference) JR
