Hi All! Many of you don't know me but i am one of the younger guys on the board (joined when i was 17) but now that i have graduated high school, i have more time for my 1972 Buick Skylark. Anyway, Im curious what is the coolest car you have ever found on either a car hunt or at a car show. Can be a buick or a non buick! For myself, I found an abandoned 1940s dodge coupe that was completely original, albeit the rusted out parts! Not to mention a 1930s buick sedan in a junk yard! So what are yours?
I would have to say my coolest find would be my GS! But that's a given, so here's a couple. Firstly, while walking through a local junkyard, I found an EXTREMELY rusty 69 skylark up to the rockers in mud and right next to it a 55 Chrysler New Yorker with suicide doors on the rear. Also when looking at a 72 GS in the woods, (listed as a barn find :spank, I noticed the guy also had not one, not two, but three Tri-5 Chevy's sitting in the woods for longer than the GS, which had been there since 84! One hardtop, one two door post, and one triple black 57 Bel Air convertible! Of course those weren't for sale. And neither were the 100+ cars he had just down the road! (And yes, they were in the woods as well). Also sweet Lark in your profile pic and cool to see a fellow Buick lover fresh outta' High school. Graduating next week myself!
Coolest finds... 1970 GSX Stage 1 Auto from original owner (still have) 1970 GS Stage 1 convertible 4 speed from second owner (Chris now has this one) Have another amazing find that just came up...stay tuned! Buick Eric / Oregon :3gears:
My dad collects 60's Corvettes, and we went out to look at one in a barn in Western Pa, opened the doors, there was a yellow 1967 Stingray Big Block Tri Power numbers matching car with a documented 7k on the clock. We went home and were coming back the next day with the money, turns out Jay Leno caught wind and sent a guy out immediately and offered double what my father did and snagged it. Atleast we know it's going to a fellow car lover!
a sox and martin race car for $2500.....i win...yeah..its a hemi 70 judge camaro 442 thats anbother 70 Judge on the other side of the trailer 64 4 speed tripower convert aero car
I once found a 69 cyclone Cale Yarborough edition 428 SCj in a junk yard missing its engine. Just last year i found a wing car in a garage that's been stored since the owner wrecked it in high school in 1977 white with black guts and a 440 auto. The owner hasn't even tried to find any parts or even turn the engine over. Will not sell or even talk about it. He is in his sixties and says he'll restore it someday.
it was 1987..i was on the trail of a ram air 67 GTO convert..black with white interior...turns out it was a GTO..just not a ram air car.. the Hemi car was under a tarp. .and the guy said ya wanna buy a race car..i said maaaybee..what ya got..flipped the tarp...and there it was...it was a real Hemi Satellite..still painted red white and blue...sox and martin down the side...the floors had been cut up so bad for a cage, and the trans hump was cut out about 4 times as big as the tranny was...the trunk mount battery stuff still there...and of course...it had a hemi..and the VIN was hemi....so no doubt..it was real...who knows what kind of Hemi....but it was a Hemi we bartered back and forth..the final price was $2500...said too..much money..give me a day..to think about it...and just like that....deal off....no way after that.. 1990ish..i found the car again..just like i found it..in R&R auto salvage in SW MO....right after Ron died, and they where selling everything...no Hemi in it who knows where it is now....

Before I joined the military I was working putting up hay. Looked in the corner of the barn and there's something under a trap. Asked about it and its a 1936 Fiat 518. All original and ran up to the day this guys daddy parked it in there and put that tarp over it. Its the 4 door with the suicide doors. Tried to buy it but even though nothing has been done and no one has any plans for it the family doesn't want to part with it just yet. I'm gonna keep trying.
I've owned close to 500 cars in my lifetime. I used to buy/sell all the time, so I found many great deals. When it comes to collectables, the best were my '69 Z/28 RS for $1,550.00 back in '73. My non-car people associates, at the time, gave me crap for storing it every winter. Still have it. What's it worth now? And who is laughing now? The ones we have now: Our '68 Impala 4dr. sedan 396/325 TH400 12bolt posi. F41, 81k ,was bought, in '04 from an ad in a locasl paper. Estate car from out of New Orleans. Not rusted. Mostly original paint. Drove it home. $1,500. We bought the '65 Skylark convertible 300 2-spd auto, about 2 months later. Original family owned. It was at a friends shop. No brakes at all. Needed everything replaced. Guy didn't want to spend the money. Another $1,500. '62 Buick LeSabre 4dr. sedan, 81k, bought at an estate auction last fall. Interior is real nice. Body has bondo. Mechanic owned. $2,000.
No argument from me! My best was also a Mopar - a '62 Chrysler 300H with the "small" dual-quad 380 hp 413. The best part was that I bought it from Ronald Reagan. No, not the one who was President, but still Ronald Reagan. I once drove it through a flying mile at a tweak over 142 mph, the fastest that I have ever driven an automobile. I sold it in order to afford to be married. I still miss it. It went to California. I hope that it survived.
