Born in '59. Reared during the '60s and '70s, in a military family. We got to see all kinds of cars around the world. But I think that my favourite cars were the '66 GTO, and the '72 Skylark. One of my Dad's friends owned the GTO (which made one hell of an impression on me everytime he fired the dam thing up) and Mom had the 'Lark(4 Doors, but it had style, and my parents always wanted a Buick). The one car that I would definitely love to have though would be the '40s era Mercury Coupe. I just love the lines of that car. The era that I grew up in was fine with me. Guess I turned out ok...

My skylark was built two years before I was born. I have always loved muscle cars from the sixties, as we had a 66 impala and a 55 nomad, yes a real nomad, in the driveway when I was 5-7 years old. 55 chevy's are, and always will be, in my top two coolest cars of all. My first car was a 70 Lesabre, 455 powered, hence my buick afinity. That being said I also love pro stock style vegas and monzas because they were what I saw going to the dragstrip as a young kid. One of my buddies races a vega wagon and it reminded me of a prostock vega wagon model I built as a kid. Man I love reminiscing, thanks!!

My dad was a car nut, and his first real car when we emigrated here was a '58 Buick. He used to take me to the Buick dealer's showrooms in the late '60s, and I've loved Buicks ever since. I can remember my Electra as a used car, and my '46 Super was by then an old car. Modern cars do absolutely nothing for me, I still love those late '60s boats.

I was born in 47. That's 1947 and I don't think they had cars back then. LM(old)AO.

Seriously, I looked at a 47 Buick when I was a kid and I didn't like the looks of it. I graduated from HS in 1965 and I drive a 65 Special wagon. Also have a 65 Chevelle 2-door wagon and just sold a 65 2-door post sedan. It's definitely my year. :TU: :beers2: :TU:

I grew up riding in Dad's 66 Riviera and his 55 Chevy truck powered by a Buick 350. So, no doubt I love Buicks. I own a Riv and still have the 55 truck with a Buick engine. My brother still has the 66 Riv. We added several over the years. I currently own 2 Buicks that are one year younger than me. Still have my first full time car too which is a first series Toyota Supra.
For me it is all about what I liked when I was young. I still want a Trans Am too.

I was born a year before the 67 Buick. My father placed the order for it sometime towards he end of March 1967. The car was built the third week of April 1967. Tag shows 04C. He picked it up on June 12, 1967 in Brooklyn, NY when we came back from Germany. It was the LAST american car he bought.

For me it's mostly body style but in general i'm most attracted to the years surrounding my birth and typically a few years after like 64 to 67 and some 68 - 72.

I don't really have a perfectly styled car as there is usually one or more pieces that i think should have been styled like another model/year.

For instance i love the cars with double sets of headlights going sideways but some cars with the stacked lights have a rear section that i like better so styling of individual parts also plays into it.

Also i do like various models from all of the big three as i'm just a car nut not a vendor specific evangelist.

    Cars i have now....65 GS, 64 Special, 65 Special, 68 SS396, 63 Nova-SS, 63 Acadian SD.

    Cars i've had...67 SS396 one owner car bolero red, 69 Camaro 307 car, 68 Malibu 307 car, 67 300 model chevelle.

    From Canada....EH!

Born in 63, have owned 65, 66, 2 72's, 74 & 77 GM (A-Body cars?). No correlation just like cool cars, I really don't car what make (owned several forign cars porsches etc). I think sometimes a car just moves me so I buy it.

Same goes for snowmobiles and other vehicles, nostalgia does play a part, but it really comes down to cool looks and engineering.

I agree that it's style, but what was around and what was cool when you were knee high through young adult can have a lot to do with your taste in cars. Like I said before, to me the mid 60's cars were sorta "classic" muscle cars, 70's muscle cars were something I never saw till they were older, but early 70's A body cars (Skylark, Cutlass) were common cheap cool cars when I was a young man. The good old tri 5 cars were your basic "big dollar" show cars, and a Model A, or a 32 to 34 3 or 5 window coupe or high boy were the true you know you've made it hot rods. That was before there were about a million fiberglass body cars to choose from.
I think those same perceptions stick with me today to some extent. The money part of it doesn't impress me now, in fact that's one of the things I like about Buick. I also wouldn't ever think of putting the kind of money into a 55 Chevy when they seem so common to me now. They should have a section at car shows for tri 5 chevy cars. Now a 55 Buick... That would be cool.
I'm a brand preference, but not a have to when it comes to brands. I would love to have another 63 1/2 Ford Galaxie, or just for a driver I would love to have another 78 Trans Am 4 speed 400 car!

There's not a lot of cars that I like that aren't older than me by at least 2 years. I'm 34.

I was born April, 1961, so depending on the month my '70 Riviera was built, I was either 8 or 9 years old.

At that time my Dad would have owned his '68 Toronado, and the '67 Mustang my Mom drove, along with being in the process of restoring a 1937 Jaguar SS100. The 1st car he restored.

I like a lot of cars from the 20's, 30's and 40's since I was exposed to them at an early age attending CCCA & AACA club events.

I can't say there is an era of cars I wouldn't be able to find something I would want to own.

Standing in front of, and hearing the roar of a Supercharged SJ Duesenberg can make quite an impression on a young lad!
