That light baby blue looks good on you Paul!

Sweet car! The west is the best! You should move to AZ where they prob'ly don't have a 20+ cent per gallon gas tax, and definitely no snow or salt. Screw the Masshole politicians. They will bleed us dry and then some.

so whats the real story on the car - why was it parked so many years ago if it runs and all ?

... and more importantly, whats with you massholes traveling across the country to drag home these baby blue GS's ?

  7. The story is-

The car was ordered in Fallon NV and delivered to original owner who was in her 60's when she bought the car. She drove it until 1985 when she died. Her son whos now in his 70's drove the car from her house to his house in 1989 and parked it.

It sat in that field until the end of January. I saw it 4 years ago in the field from about 600 ft away thinking it was a Skylark. My uncle kept leaving his # on the door of the house and the guy called him. I got a call that it was a GS. I told him to buy it based on pics I saw.

The car was painted in the 80's to stop the sun fading. It should be silver and black I believe, but I have to wait for confirmation due to the * next to the PNT on the cowl tag.

Gotta love these kinda stories! Just goes to show there are still finds waiting to happen.

How are you going to get information on that *? I saw that and thought "special paint". Maybe the son knows the shop that painted it? Or start doing some investigation work to find places on the car that show the old colors? (trunk, behind door panels, a pillar covers, etc)

Cool find Paul! Got your Pm the other day...
Paint code is WA. Silver mist with black painted top.
Don't know what the star is for, I haven't seen that before. I'll keep looking.

The engine mounts aren't avail new. You have to send them to Steele rubber to have them revulcanized. About $80 a pair. Takes 2 weeks.

Here are a few pics of silver mist 66's:
This one's from NYC, 'formerly owned by George':

    From Carlisle, Pa swap meet:

And another 'formerly owned by George', now owned by me.:Brow: It was repainted in the past in a 67 'Platinum mist':

So if I understand the plan....you are fixing this car up for your uncle?

Paul - if you still have contact with the son see if you can get as much docs as possible that may exist. Might as well beat that bush now that you are there and have some paper then to :Dou: about it later on.

He Shoots .... He Scores !!!

  11. I'm restoring it to be a family car. Seeing as I got the 4 speed from him and no one but me can drive it in the family, I'll redo this car and my sister can drive it some, my cousins, etc. Then I'll ship it back to NV and my uncle can drive it.

He gave my uncle the original title. My uncle had him apply for a duplicate so we can keep the original with the car. We're trying to get pictures of the car etc. This car was in a field with 10 of his previously driven cars too so I'm not sure record keeping was a top priority.

  13. I got a call from my uncle earlier that the car was on the trailer. I can't wait to get it back here.

Mike made this whole process so easy. And to think, it all started from this thread.

Tom, get some pics when it gets to your place. I'd love to see them together on a trailer.
