Tonight I was listening to music as usual. I threw in a CD that I had not listened to in a long time. The Masters Of Reality from 1992! Anyways, the first song was "She got me". Ginger Baker jams on the kit...such a cool forgotten song! Any of you guys have one?:beer
I like the (Escape)Pina Colada Song by Rupert Homes. You do not hear it to much anymore. I also like the song "Take On Me" by A-ha. I see comericals all the time that use some comericialized version of cools 60's songs and wonder if the new generation has any clue that the music they here in the adds is acutally from really cool songs from the 60's. Mark
Oh, another one! Broke out some vinyl...Daune Allmans post passing "Anthology". Aretha Franklins "The Weight". Damn.:TU:
Jefferson Starship "Find Your Way Back" ; Donnie Iris "Love Is Like A Rock"; Bryan Adams "Fit's Ya Good"; Honeymoon Suite "New Girl"; Damn Yankees "Coming of Age"; Arcadia "Goodbye Is Forever"; Joan Jett "I Hate Myself For Loving You" and a lot more.
Kind of off message but the play list on the local oldies station is awful short. Same thing over and over. So many good songs you never hear. The DJ's must have to provide their own tunes and they ain't got many! How about Sorry,Sorry by The Impala's I think it was. Or Gunslinger by Bo Didley. Mike D.
:TU: Man, some great songs for sure. I love that "New girl" song. The IPOD is going to have some cool new songs now!
How about some 80s hair metal? Van Halen - Drop Dead Legs The Bullet Boys - Smooth up in ya Warrant - Cherry Pie Ratt - Lay it Down Good time music....
I still hear "Ah!Leah!" played on the radio once in a long while,so didn't include it,but should have posted "Do You Compute". Some others- Point Blank "Nicole";April Wine "Sign of the Gypsy Queen";Rainbow "Stone Cold"; Franke and the Knockouts "Sweetheart"; Uriah Heep "That's the Way That it is"; Michael Bolton "Fools Game"; Arc Angel "Tragedy"
How 'bout some '70's? Like Gerry Rafferty? "Baker Street" is still played often. But ,how 'bout "Get It Right,Next Time", "Sleepwalking",and "Home And Dry". Or Steeler's Wheel "Stuck in the Middle ". Cliff Richards "Devil Woman";Bob Welch "Ebony Eyes";Walter Egan "Magnet and Steel"; Firefall "Strangeway";Kikee Dee " I've Got the Music in Me" or even better -all of the music by KISS.
Wow-I thought i maybe i was the only one on here that even heard of Uriah Heep's "That's The Way That It Is". Awesome song! :TU: .I have The Heep Album "Abominog" on both vinyl & CD,so i can hear That's The Way That Is anytime-lol.Abominog has one of the most hidieous covers ever!:eek2: I more of a Black Sabbath,Uriah Heep,Ronnie James Dio,Rainbow,Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult type of fan,but one forgotten song that is stuck in my head is 707's "I Could Be Good For You".In fact it bothered me so much i went out & ordered the CD a couple of weeks ago-lol. Rainbow's Stone Cold is an awesome song-but i like Jealous Lover better! I might be getting older, but i'll never give up my music!
As a "Smalltime" DJ, I have been invited to several small local car shows over the last eight years. I started with about 250 songs that were 50s & 60s standards. My library has now grown to over 3,000 songs on my playlist. It includes all the top 100 (Billboard)for each year from 1955 through 1969 plus anything else I could get my hands on. The instrumentals (Apache;Rebel Rouser;Let There Be Drums), the novelty songs (Beep Beep;Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor;Pink Shoelaces) and the One Hit Wonders. They are enjoyed by all who hear them, and I enjoy doing it. Thanks for letting me ramble on. Marty
I find that XM really digs deep. I listen to 'boneyard' or 'buzzsaw' and am constantly amazed at some of the tracks they play.... good stuff!!
The Kings "This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide" ... can easily remember getting my first car, a '69 Sky in 1981, installing what was then a killer sound system ... and beating my eardrums to death repeatedly with this song <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O2Wr8J8faGA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O2Wr8J8faGA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
