Which means after the seller gave his 8%, he took home $138k. What does everyone think of the price the seller recieved?:dollar:
Pretty good price for the X. The Superbird just brought $200k. 2 years back one like it that was yellow brought $375k if I remember correctly.
I did not see the car. Was it a concourse restoration, 4 speed? I'm curious about the option load on the car if anyone knows.
considering the earlier 4speed LS-6's have been stalling at 80K, the Buick really showed some strength, slow market and all. Trounced the earlier Olds w-30 and Pontiac GTO offerings also Actually, it might be one of the top A-bodies so far
I'm not surprised it didn't air, but still very disappointed. They didn't air either of the QQ cars last year either.
Not as high as I hoped. I wonder who the new owner will be? Here are a couple of pics from the day Jimmy picked it up at my place.
I was thinking the same thing. The GTO and the Olds were sold cheap and the Buick was a respectable sale price, IMHO....
I think Dave did as concours resto on this car several years at a cost of 70K back then. 4 speed stage 1 non AC . I have seen it. It was a nice car. Glenn's car before he sold it.
I missed most of Monk waiting for this car to come up.. Barrett-Jackasses!!!!:spank: Oh well Psych is on.. And they have the GSX model on the shelf in they're office.
Here's the pics/description of the car: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/carlist_Details.aspx?&In_LotNumber=1019 Stage 1, 4 speed, 3.64:1 rear, no/ac, manual windows, 70k miles, $70,000 Kliener restoration. I'd have to say it's one of the most desirable Buick musclecars of all time with that option content, and $138k in my hand minus transportation/lodging fees wouldn't be enough for me to sell.....:3gears:
I was totally bummed it was not on. I had been watching with much anticipation for 3 hours. It is my dream car also. Mark
What a joke Barrett-Jackson now is to me. They made sure they put a 1970 Dodge Dart on TV just ahead of the '70GSX and a hemi cuda CLONE. Together these two didn't bring the money that the GSX did. They've lost my patronage watching that auction. I'm going to email them and let them know my feelings. I bet if enough of us did, that might get their attention!
both my friends cars for the last 3 years have been during commercial.. they went for 97,000 and 102,000.. lot 1009.1 and 1010..he would have been happy with 150,000.. for both so he faired well but it is always just when his cars come up its a commercial.. So I know what you guys are going threw.. I was also watching for the GSX to go.. Typical BJ politics.. Randy
To me cars can be a good investment if you pick the right car.. Just like stocks and bonds you take a risk.. Case in point there was the Hemi cuda that a couple bought a couple years back at BJ for 500,000.00 dollars..(to be sold in the future for more) This was a very low miles car (like 500 miles or something). Anyway BJ called them up and said to bring the car last year.. You may have seen it (It said right on the wind sheild lowest mile hemi cuda on the planet bar none!!)..The car comes up and only gets 250,000.00... These people lost half of there retirement money..People have to know this is a No Reserve auction.. To me they would have been better off to advertise and sell elseware..To me if you are going to have an investment car you need to do your homework and start with a car you can put money into gradually and will hold its value..If you only get back between 50-100% of you money you invested back, you can call that good.. If it goes for more then you can go WOW.. There was a couple last night with the 57 chevy.. You could tell that the husband was OK with what they got but the lady was PO'ED no smile out of her.. She looked like she was going to throw up.. To me if you are going to take your car to Barrett Jackson or any no reserve auction, Hope for the best but Expect Nothing..My 2 cents...Randy
