I will be there just to root for John Jr. and hopefully big Johnnie too:bglasses: Are we staying over from the buick event. Lets get some rooms before they are all gone! I have no winter vacation this year. (my choiceou: , WIFES choice:af: Oh well kids and all) BG then Buick Nats, might as well stay for Pinks and get some vacation time! This sound like FUN:beers2:
I spoke to Bill, last Night. He was in a Meeting with Bill Bader, on the 10th and had been told the Phones had been ringing Off the Desks. For those that will be at Racer's Days, and want to leave their Rigs for the Pinks Races, the Baders will have an area for those Rigs at the Track. I think I'll have to Extend the time next I'm there. Let's See, Cedar Point, Cleveland, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, BOU COUP Wineries from Ashtabula to Sandusky area, Outlet Malls, Zoo, etc. between Racing. SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!!!! JR
I've been asked by "he who must be obeyed" JR's Bro, to comment on the comment on the Phones ringing off the hook, which is a true statement on December 3rd, but Bill and I were with Bill Bader a week later, Dec 10th, to work on details for Buick Race Day 2008, May 30-31 and June 1 and were told about the 12 minute deal for Pinks all out, and all the things that are mentioned on the Summit Raceway website about the Pinks are true. Anyone who has been accepted for the Pinks event is welcome to leave their trailer/RIG in the southwest corner of the raceway, out of sight, just let the folks at Summit Raceway know, we'll have more info on that after the first of the year, and soon more info on more racing at Buick Race Day 2008, on Saturday!
Roberta you or the one who must be obeyed should get amy and I race registrations for the pinks deal. Last year milan had some they gave away before the event. I figure you might have the inside scoop sweet heart:beer
Hey, I was hoping to hang out with anyone who is going to be there watching. I'll probably have a BPG shirt on and a Red Edelbrock hat. -mark
I was planning on going , but I gotta  work . I need my job very much and they frown on missing time. Good luck to all of the Buick guys . PLEASE take lots of pics and post 'em .:TU:
Phil....Doug....with all the LOVE I have in my heart...YOU GUYS SUCK!!! Damn I wish we could be there...but I know you two will keep em lined out. Be safe..and have a blast! Scott PS - Doug...my package from the NorthEast Santa arrived and is going in tomorrow....I will let you know how it goes- Thanks
Scott, I can feel some sarcasm in your comments. I can't help the fact that I have no responsibilities to keep me at home, instead of staying in Ohio for the week. :TU: We had a great time, starting with Norwalk Buick Raceday last weekend. It's always fun to get together with the Buick guys and girls and being on John Jr's pit crew for his 2nd consecutive Quick-16 victory at Norwalk was the topper! :TU: We spent the week of our Ohio vacation going to Summit Racing, stopping by HrpartsNstuff to see Paul's new building, buying fireworks...and that was just the FIRST DAY!! We went to the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland the next day, and took a ride up to Michigan the day after that to visit our friends, Bobb and Geoff, at Finishline Motorsports. After checking out their shop and shooting the breeze for awhile, we went out for a nice dinner and headed back down to Norwalk. That was a long day! When the Pinks All Out weekend finally arrived, it came in HOT!!!! :af: I HATE HOT!!! On the bright side, John was razor sharp from the get go. They started the racers off on a pro tree, and John was NAILING IT! When they switched over to Rich doing his famous "arm drop", John nailed THAT as well! :TU: John was running consistent 8.91s, but they wound up choosing a 9.90 field. We figured it was going to be tough to crack into the lineup when this whole deal started, and we were right. 525 racers, 40,000 spectators, inumerable trucks, trailers, golf carts, quads, support vehicles....it was out of control! They announced at the driver's meeting on Saturday morning that they were starting a new show called Pinks - Quick 8 , and that they were going to do the pilot episode that day with the quickest eight cars at the event. Unfortunately, they had strayed from that original plan of Nate's and brought in around ten "ringers" for the Quick 8 . Pro-Mods in most cases. What started out as a reward for the quick cars who registered for the event, turned into just one more "cater to the TV audience" event. Rich encouraged the racers to try to "knock those guys out" of the Quick 8, but that's kinda silly, since most of them ran in the six and seven second zones! As it turned out, John Jr got called in as an alternate and ran his best run of the the week, an 8.87, against a '62 or '63 Impala running 7.90s on alcohol. John DRILLED him on the arm drop and carried the front wheels to the 60-ft cones, but the Chevy ran him down at the 1/8 mile and ran an 8.19, beating John to the stripe by .550. We were proud as hell of John and he gave it everything he had, but it was like bringing a knife to a gunfight. All in all, we had a really good week, and it was quite a spectacle to be a part of, but I'll never go near another one of these PINKS events. Too much mayhem with very little chance of reward. Anyway, that's my story. I hope you weren't too bored reading it.
Doug (y) If I thought it wouldnt get back to my Dad- I would ask you to adopt me!!!!:moonu: Glad you guys had fun...I had a pretty cool thing happen while you were away though...got a PM from Jim R. asking for info and pictures of my car for a write up in the X-tra! I sent it out earlier today and will wait and see what happens... Havent gotten the gasket for the tranny yet- but when I do....youll be the third to know.... 1. me:bla: 2. anyone within 2 miles...:3gears:  3. Y O U ....:beer
Maybe for a driver but as a spectator I thought it was pretty good! The only thing I didn't like was how long they dragged stuff out. I didn't get home until 2:45am and I live near Columbus. -mark
Did you happen to witness the racer entry mayhem on Friday? I've never seen anything like it. uzzled:
I was referring to the parking of trailers and the overflow of the pits when I arrived at the crack of 1:00. If you'd care to share your description of the sights and sounds you witnessed that morning before I arrived, feel free. Ass. Make it brief though, because brevity is key. Ass.
I heard a car hit the wall. Any news on that? Someone told my wife he was lifeflighted and died later. Supposedly a racer from Quaker City.
Steve Dont know if he is a racer from Quaker or not, last i heard was today and that he has a broken leg and some rib cartiledge damage, (this is what i seen posted). Didnt hear anything about anyone getting killed though. Here is a link to the wreck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbE_b23UBfc
