Thank you. It was my dad's, he owned several Buicks here in New Zealand over his lifetime. He died in 2013 and this was left to me. We think it is a 47, but the identifier plate on the firewall starts with 145 which I think means it is a 1945, we can't find the ownership papers. But I think the plate might be the wrong one It is a lovely car, I'm looking forward to getting it finished and driving it.
Maybe '46. I wouldn't say it's not a '45. But if it is a '45 it would be VERY rare indeed!!! In 1945 Buick was very busy making airplane engines and tank destroyers. My Roadmaster was passed down to me upon my Dad's death. Dad bought the Roadmaster in 1970. He bought it as a means of transportation, to and from work. It became his favorite car, and we restored it twice. Once in 1975 and again in 2000
It is nice to have that special history to it. Dad also owned a Mustang, Pontiac GTO & a Chev Impala SS which my three brothers got one each. I am glad I got the Buick. I think dad owned this one since the late 60's maybe early 70's. I was born in 71 and our family cars were 48 & 52 Buicks. Is mine a Super Saloon? I don't like the cololur, thinking of getting it done in a red.
Is it a Holden Buick? Or, a USA import? Take a look at the fire wall data plate. If it's a USA model it should give a model number 52 or 51 they're both four door sedans of the Super trim level
No, it's a 1948. The grille and that are 47-48, and the fact that it has the nameplates in script on the lower fenders tells me it's a 48. 1947 and earlier had "Super" only on the bumper overriders. In the interior, if the colours of the instruments are brushed metal and black, then it's a 48. If it's off-white with a copper ring, then it's 47 or earlier. If it has a Dynaflow Automatic, then it's a 48. The serial numbers to the best of my recollection all started "145" on the Super series, I can't remember off hand which character indicated the year. 1945-46 issue cars had a different grille. The 45 production is listed as 46, so a low serial number would indicate an early car. Nice car; Those beasts are a handful to drive but are one of the sharpest body-styles ever built (IMHO). This was mine...the day I sold it. It was a 1946 Super Sedan in original condition.

Great looking car and history! I thought mid 40's up when I saw it, but didn't want to say because I didn't know exactly.
There is nothing in the photos that is inconsistent with a 1948. Unfortunatly, a '47 was virtually identical to a '48 - so it would be difficult to tell from the photo. 1946 grille was different.
