Yes, just keep chipping away but don't take your eyes off the other ball (GSX project).

I never saw this thread when you started it so today is my first time. It is very cool that only 36 '71 GSs were painted this color and you have one that is optioned as a Stage 1, 4-speed. The icing on the cake is that you have documentation to prove it's the real deal. The car will be striking with the white interior.

Yea GSX is priority for sure,...to be perfectly honest the main reason it's getting attention is I need the rotisserie to get a customer car blasted and bedlined so it can go back on it's chassis,...plus side is I gain 2 open slots in the shop then which I desperately need,...by March I'll have 4 other projects out then I'll have my shop back and can put my lifts in,...and actually set the shop up like I want vs the catch all it is now ha

Story on this car is kinda cool,...it was ordered by a Buick service manager,....he was driving to work one morning with around 30k miles on the clock,..shifted into second leaving a stoplight and the cam snapped and took the whole engine out,... engine was replaced at the dealer,...then it was given to a nephew who blew that one up and put a 74 shortblock with the 71 heads and of course the HEI distributor and carb so they are mia but we picked up a gorgeous 1242 from Nick,... distributor not really worried about,..as it will be getting TA sleeper heads,...I hope,..so not to worried about being 100% correct

Nice! I like it. I realize the ‘70’s get the most respect. But I always thought the 71’s are better looking with the more refined grill and bumpers.

Guy- I agree! N25, grille, etc. 71’s are sharp!

Yes, all that great '71 stuff - factory sport mirrors, 8.5" rear end, bigger oil passage, bigger Q-jet, they were friendly with pump gas, fantastic colors including the "X" colors, all flat gauges, smaller sport wheel, mandatory discs with the 455", and what every Buick lover seems to crave, scarce as all get out!

The '71 cars I owned seemed to rust less and rattle less too. They always say the second year is better!

Anecdotally (incl. parts cars prob. had 40+ of these cars going back to '84) the '71-2 have less trunk rust issues. I've always liked all 3 years. Another '72 GS is on the bucket list.

I've always felt like the 72s we're tighter feeling for sure,... having taken apart more than I can remember there no real differences worth mentioning between 70/72 but they do feel different when driving for some reason

I'll be just getting epoxy on it for now,...setting it back on a soon to be rolling chassis,..then doing the 1/4s,..rear deck filler and the trunk pan,..then back on the rotisserie for the bedliner and paint to reproduce the original undercoat appearance in the wheel wells ,...as soon as this one comes off I'm putting a 68 vert on to blast and paint the bottom of it and get it back on it's pro touring type chassis I've done for it,...I'll post some pics if that beauty here soon,..it's a nice setup of quality and value
