Yes or No to Year one parts?

Some may recall I picked up a 70 GSX non stage car this summer. I am going to do a frame off resto. I'd like a close to 1000 point car when it's done, which may-be isn't possible without going with NOS parts, but will also drive it!
Question is; what is the general opinion about useing Year One parts? How do you feel about their repo parts? Right now they are offering 20% off almost everything. If I was to buy a large lot, could save a lot of money. Are there some repo parts I should stay away from? Does the car deserve better? Lots of questions to have answered!

Unfortunately, there is not a one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Some repro parts are great. Some stink. Some are not exact, but are accepted in councourse judging. Some NOS parts are not identical to the originals.
Sorry, I'm sure that this is not what you wanted to hear. Just depends on how picky you are. If you resoted your car with everything Y1 sells it would certainly be very nice. But it would still take a few "dings" in concourse judging on some details here and there. If you realy, really want to be 100% correct do some searches on the board here and post about any parts you may have questions about.

    Dale,
I bet Duane would be the best guy to answer your questions. I would make a list of all the parts you are interested and pm Duane. He could tell you the best sources for your parts. DUane judges the Concourse cars at the GSCA Nats as well as the BPG Nats.

One problem with YO is they have very little in stock and most times they can not or will not give a true answer as to when you can expect the parts. Their prices are not good either. If you shop around a little, you will almost always find the same part cheaper somewhere else. One thing is granted with YO. Unless the parts are drop shipped, which happens a lot, your stuff will come in a n ever so cool custom Year One box, complete with Year One logos! Now everyone will know you spent some cash with Year One!! I wonder how much those boxes cost? I use them to decorate my walls. All my friends think I'm the coolest.

Thanks guys! I am a picky guy but, I figure if I'm going to drive it, it'l never compete seriously with the concours cars anyway. Duane is a good idea too! Thanks :3gears:
