Bob, We just got home a few hours ago. What a great time. Best race anyone can attend even without a car! Non stop action. Racing started Friday morning at 10 & the last pairs went down the track after midnight! Saturday was the same. I am shot! Booked our rooms for next year already.
I hooked up my computer to my 50" to watch the stream while eating lunch. 5 hours later....... Haha. What a cool race to watch, gonna have to add attending it to my bucket list. I unfortunately turned on just in time to see a familiar looking Skyhawk red light
I could not hit the tree at all with the skyhawk this weekend. Last 3 passes were .004 .001 and .002 all red lights. Hopefully out of my system before bowling green now. Still a great time and amazing to see how much respect and sympathy you get for trying to go fast with a buick engine. Amazing how a 3300 pound drag radial car can go 4.06 at 196 mph and look and drive like a street car. Estimated at 4000 hp. Absolutely nuts. You will never see better racing than an event like this. Bump spot for 32 car 8.50 index was 8.53. 43 cars did not make that show.
Great time this weekend meet a few new people wish I had more of chance to talk with jake never seem to have chance to stop over. The racing was good ran 9.93 off the trailer slowed it down to 10.05 to get Q12 and went .006 on the tree first round but in the heat ran 10.11 I turn the car up more for round 2 that never happened but it was a great time just wish we got the race I had good feeling about it not to bad for tires that are 3 years old spun every pass 60' were way off
Mike it was great meeting you and you have a very nice car keep it going. Maybe you can bring it back to Cecil in a few weeks.
I have always wanted to see a single turbo or. twin turbo buick there! I figured with the torque of mighty buick and then adding a good combo of turbo or turbo's, that would produce some nasty torque numbers. That is my goal for a 1978 buick Riviera .
John, My neighbor went down with some racing buddies and got back late last night. They didn't bring a race car and he doesn't drink and man he looked wrecked!! Can't wait for a full report tomorrow and my Yellow Bullet T-shirt. I may have to tag along with them next year. I chuckled a little about the people saying that the PDR Camaro was heavy and had a big turbo, thus the quick time on DR's (lack of power down low, turned on hard and ran out the back door). With 4000 HP and a 1.10 60' time, that was some impressive set-up to keep it going straight the whole way!
John, I seen that hawk flying. Next year will be different.. We will bring a bunch of Aluminum. .Way to represent!
Mike....yeah, you beat the bright green 71 Camaro that I beat in the final the nite before at Capitol in 10.00. I bet he's not too happy with Buicks and Buick powa. HaHa Bruce
