Currently my Skylark just has a 350-2 but Im finishing the paint, suspension, and rear end now in preparation for the 455 on the stand. I want to get a true dual exhaust on before the spring but I wont have the new motor done yet. Since the car will be driven more than tracked Ive about decided on shorty headers. Could I get by with a 2 1/2" system from TA or Pypes using the manifolds for the 350 and then reuse the system with shortys on the big block? I realize I may have to do some trimming on the downpipe. Any thoughts?
You will probably have to change out the down pipes when changing engines. The headers will not be the same as the 350 if you are going that route on both engines.
Yes. Most exhaust kits are crossmember back systems so you will only have to modify the downpipes when switching from the 350 to the 455. A 2.5" system will work well on either motor.
