Not sure about Steve Kinser, I don't keep up with it any more. In The 80's Steve was the king. I drive past a big track on RT 77 West Virgina Motor Speedyway. It has been closed for years, but they opened back up. I'm glad, I hate seeing things go to hell. I cannot believe people still race sprints. The amount of $$$$$$$$$$$$ to run a car is insane.
They don't start 4 wide in the feature, they do a 4 wide tribute lap before they start the feature (A main). I'm not sure I'd want to see the carnage that would result from a 4 wide start. Been to many Woo shows, grew up in southern Pa, the only place where the locals win 50% of the Woo shows. I was also the primary sponsor of the car that won the USAC East Coast Sprint Car Championship the last 3 years. They had the first Woo show here at East Bay Raceway in 23 years in March, mostly due to the freeze in Texas that canceled many shows.
One of these fridays, if im not working, ill stop up and check out some of the cars. Been a year or two since ive been able to check out that cruise in
And a lot of good speed shops. The Hollywood speed shop was 2 blocks from the house I grew up in, Joe sponsored my soap box derby car. Bill France, founder of NASCAR, wanted Joe to build him a car for the 1955 Indy 500 but Joe was too busy moving his shop. I can get engines built up there for half what it would cost down here in Florida. https://kustomrama.com/wiki/Joe_Wolf's_Hollywood_Speed_Shop
I agree it seems like you need to hit the lottery just to be competitive lol I have a general understanding because of my buddies who do it locally. But im sure the outlaw guys have atleast 5 figures wrapped up in the haulers alone
So after seeing the outlaws tonight i now truly know what they mean when they call it "The Greatest Show on Dirt". Honestly one of the best races/features i have ever watched in person, well worth price of admission. Got to watch The Buckeye Bullet Dave Blaney win at his home track, and his first outlaw win since 1997 i believe. Truly an amazing experience
I have never heard a crowd more ballistic at a race than when blaney took the lead. I could only hear the crowd i couldnt hear the cars still racing thats how loud it was
It was cool to see him win! There was a lot of headlines about donny schatz winning his 300th WoO race and sheldon haudenschild closing the gap for points. No one talked about dave until he crossed the finish line lol
I had a couple beers with Doug Kalita about 10 years ago. I was eager to ask him what his first drag car was. He told me he went from sprint car driving right into top fuel. He said it wasn't much different. He's a real down to earth guy.
I used to go to the King's Royal race at Eldora speedway every year. It is an absolute blast to watch, and one heck of a party in the campground. Its totally worth it, you don't even realize how wild those cars are until you see them in person.
I agree lol that is a good way to put it but, you should hear him in this video. Much too much helium
Especially with the outlaws. Im used to local guys and some other bigger events. These guys were absolutely ripping up the track with blistering passes
Yep, the outlaw cars are stupid fast going sideways! I actually did a lap on Eldora speedway. It was in a golf cart though. And security was chasing me in their golf cart. (Long story, told ya camp ground was a party)
I just got my buddy's lil old school car going for him Here it is this morning before I took it back to him.
