Never installed a windshield and not sure what to use? Do you need anything specials because of the antenna wire? Non conductive urethane?

Right now I was looking at this, but not sure if it's correct.
    3M 08609 fast cure urethane = https://www.npdlink.com/product/adh...-auto-glass-105-ounce-cartridge/170977/121046
    3M 08682 primer for the glass = https://www.npdlink.com/product/primer-single-step-30-ml-single-use-bottle/196862

I also say something that was medium viscosity 3M 08693 but not sure where to get that.

Any other manufactures recommended to use?

    Thanks
    Nick

Use straight butyl tape. The thickness of the material is very critical. If its too thin the chrome trim will not snap in place. I believe urethane cannot be laid down thick enough without running.

    I use 5/16 or 3/8 tape.

Yes, I bought the tape already based on the V8 board. Question is on the actual urethane to use. 3M 08609 or something else? If something else, from what manufacture?
Yes, I have both. But what do you use for Urethane. I found a thread on the site that mentioned 3/8" for front and 5/16" for the back. Need to go back and find that too.

You don't need urethane with the tape. Lay it down and put the windshield in place..

Also make sure you use the rubber blocks on the bottom of the windshield there A must if not the windshield will slide down and you’ll have a mess.

I've had issues in the past with the butyl tape not sealing 100% in the past....so my glass guy likes to run a small bead of urethane around the outer edge to make sure the seal is good.

Ok, think I got it. I was thinking the foam was more of a potting dam and not like double sided tape. So the butyl tape is the actual adhesive. I checked the box I bought and it looks to be the butyl tape and not the foam like I originally thought

Yeah, I got these little brackets installed in the front to hold the windshield up

good to know. My initial thought was install the foam potting dam and urethane bead and drop windshield on. Now it sounds like just install the butyl and put windshield in. Sounds like it’s a lot easier to add a bead of urethane in the channel afterwards making sure not to embed the molding clips.

    Thank you All!

preliminary sat the windshield on the car to test for and line up side to side. About 1/2” on sides and 1/4” on top

I guess one last follow up question.

With the butyl rubber, do you have any wiggle room to make adjustments before pressing in?

And do you need to apply pressure while it’s sets? Or just slightly push as you lay the windshield down.

    Thanks again!

There is a little wiggle room. But you'll want to put tape registers down so you can aim in the right spot to stick it in the right spot the first time. Press firmly all the way around evenly. Too much pressure in one spot and it will crack the glass.

As I've mentioned b4,....the tape we have now is NOT the same,....WE aren't working with factory windshields either,....use tape if you wish but heat up with a heat gun or in the sun b4 setting the glass,....PREFIT the glass,....a good glass man can use urethane with 110% success,....there another windshield hacks out there tho
