    Maybe someone can help me:

I have a 72 Centurion 2 door hardtop. The car had no factory power windows. Now I want to add them. I bought the wiring harness, all relays swithes .... and installed them. I also have the motors.
Im only missing the PW regulators.

Will the window regulators out of a 73 - 77 chevelle 2 door fit?
I know the chevelles are A-Bodys and the Centurion is a B-Body.
But the glass and shape of the doors look similar. :Do No:

What is the "Police Interceptor" in relation to your '72 Centurion (in your signature line)? Sounds interesting. Thanks.

I am pretty sure they are interchangeable for a number of years. You could ask at Napa, etc to see if it is the same part number for a 73 Chevelle as for a 72 Centurion. The power window motors on these cars are very heavy duty, I still have 3 out of 4 original motors on my car.

Tom, I don´t need the motors. I need the regulators them selves. I bought the complete power windows out of a 4 door Centurion. So I have a working wiring harness, switches, relays and motors. But the regulators won´t fit.

Ken, When I "found" the car it was parked outside for about 7 years without any care or something else. The prev. owner parked it there with the key in the ignition lock and left it. I saw the car and had to have it. I called him if he would sell. His answer was "Sure, you can take a look at the car, doors are open, key are in. Do what you want. I will only come to pick up the money. Price is 700 dollars."
So I took a good battery, fresh fuel and some oil. Got there, and after 30min it ran like a dream. :beers2:
When I started with the restoration, I had to drill out the trunk lock because the key was missing. when the trunk was open I found some interesting stuff like a NYC Police Permit, red flares the police puts on the road when an accident happens .....
And the car had really huge bumper guards on and 12 inch drum at the rear. :TU:
Thats why I´m pretty sure that this car was part of some serios action in new york :Brow:

Peter, that is really cool. I have many pages of "police" equipment info and drawings in one of my Buick chassis manuals, so I have always been curious about real-world Buick Police options and cars. No doubt Buick wasn't building many for police departments, but it looks like you have the closest one I have heard of in some time.
Are there any unusual options or equipment combinations? Is it a low-option car?

A low option car? Let me say it this way: It has no expensive options like cruise control, power windows, power door locks, passenger side mirror ....
Just the protective body moldings on the side and the trim lines. No more options.
Here are some pics of it when I bought it. Notice the huge bumper guards.

Try George Nenadovich or Adam Smart (Smartin). These two have experience with parts interchange data and larger Buicks.

    Model 6639 = 1972 4 door Centurion

    Group 10.783

Power (electric) front door regulators less motor - All 4 door B and C body Buicks

    1971-75 50-60-8000 series cars --4 doors = 1659636 RH

    (same)........................................... = 1659637 LH

Group 10.791 Rear door window regulators ( electric less motor)

All B and C body Buick 4 door Hardtops 1971-75

    1659640 RH

    1659641 LH

If you will note 3-4000 series cars, meaning Buick A bodies, are not included above. Buick A bodies have different part numbers. Therefore I doubt that Chevelles which are also A bodies will interchange. Also note Buick E bodies, meaning Rivs, which are 9000 series cars, are likewise not included as having the same part numbers.

So your donors from the Buick line are 4 door hardtop LeSabres, Centurions and Electras. I think Estate Wagons are too but that would require me to take another look.

PS--My wife and I applaud the beauty of your country and the city of Vienna.

Jim, thanks for your reply. But my car is a 2 door hardtop not a 4 door. The parts I bought are from a Centurion 4 door. But it´s very difficult / impossible to make the 4 door regulators fit the 2 door.
Why I am asking this is because I found someone near my hometown who´s parting out a 74 Chevelle Coupe. I know those chevelles don´t have rear window regulators but I hope that the front regulators would fit? Maybe you have the time to take another look.

BTW: Thanks for the nice words about Austria and Vienna. It´s a great country to life in. But I think it´s always the same: you like the country where you life but everyone thinks that it could be better somewhere else. In my case I don´t know how often I thought how beautyful many parts of the USA are. In the 2nd week of march I´m going to New York. I´m so excited about it. And I´m going to meet some guys from the Centurion Forum and other Buick guys there. We´re thinking of driving to the track in New Jersey.

With this clarification I can answer this question I believe up to the point where we decide whether a Buick A body is the same part number. I do not have the books in front of me but in general A bodies have their own part numbers. Tonight I can confirm this relative to you 72 2 door B body.

Group 10.783-- Front door electric regulators

    1972 Centurion 2 door hardtop = 6647 series.

    1971-75 2 door electric regulator all B, C and E bodies = 20041604 RH

    1971- 75 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>same = 20041605 LH

Buick A body front door electric regs carry different part numbers. So my sense is that a Chevelle regulator would track the Buick A body relative to potentially fitting a B body donee.

The Chevelle regulators will not work in the Centurion. The front door regulators can be used from a '71-'76 full sized cars B C and E body. The 1/4 regulators can be used from a '71-'73 and some '74 models cars B C and E. Jim Lore has some good info there.

Thanks for your help. You saved me form buying more window regulators I can´t use.
Special thanks to you Jim, because of the hassle with checking all the part no. in your books.

For donors look for a 1971-75( at least )

2 door Lesabre, Centurion, Electra or Rviera

I am more cautious about Estate Wagons unless I look a little further.

I suspect if you advertise on this Board under Parts Wanted you may find some. There could be NOS out there too.
