  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things.   3. The "Group Buy" for the 1967-68 Deluxe Steering wheel recasting is now officially "Open". Now is the time to start sending in the wheels. The latest date that the wheels must be received by Kochs is 31 March 2025 The cost for each wheel is $750. The only "up front cost" is your shipping the wheel. If you send in more than one wheel, each additional wheel will cost $700. Shipping and insurance to Kochs and return shipping will be extra. windlace clips

    I saw this picture of flynbuicks car in the chassis restoration section. That little orange clip with two screws/rivets (can't tell) holding on the windlace...anybody remake those? Or it a complicated stamped piece with some weird bends on the back side you can't see in that picture or is it just a rectangular piece with two holes in it I can just make myself? I didn't even notice that clip was missing from my car until I saw that picture and noticed the holes on my car for it...it has repro windlaces right now...I didn't even know they were supposed to be there, they've been missing for as long as I've had the car. It would probably explain why the windlace always wants to fall off. :rolleyes:

    those arent windlace clips, they are door wedge plates. there is one on each side and they are made out of brass. also there is a chrome one on each door that is the actual wedge and they are made of steel. these are convert only parts. the windlace will have to be cut to clear them if not the orignials. i dont think anybody repos them. may have to hunt for some originals.

    The convertible door/QP "wedges" described above ARE REPRO'D. To cut your door windlaces (if they aren't already cut) just use some good tin snips or wire end cutters as the windlace has a metal core/strip running through it.

    You can typically also find the wedges used...run a "Parts Wanted" ad. They also have a shim in there the same shape as the wedges so ask if the seller has those with the wedges. I can post pics tomorrow p.m. if you want.

    Your door and/or quarter will have holes already drilled in them where these mount....or, if the doors and/or QP's have been replaced they should have a prepunched dimple where the holes for the screws go in.

    Each pair of wedges consists of the brass wedge, a corresponding formed/stamped/shaped stainless plate, maybe a shim piece with the same profile and of course, the two screws for each wedge mounting point.

    So....you will need:

    > 2 "brass" wedges
    > 2 stainless plates
    > Possibly 2 shims the same shape
    > 8 phillips head screws....most likely #8 Phillips screw size (you can get these anywhere if the seller doesn't have any)


    These wedge/strikers act as a rub plate or striker point between the doors and QP's on the CONVERTS because of the additional body flex on converts between the doors and QP's.

    And yes, the holes are in the quarter panels, I'll check the doors tomorrow

    You should be able to find a used set....they are generic between all the A body convertibles so you aren't limited to Buicks.

    With a little work you could even fab some yourself...the brass would be relatively easy. The stainless wedges have a bump stamped into them..but you could carve the bump into a chunk of stainless...dremel, file, sandpaper, hacksaw, etc....you get the idea. With enough patience and time you could probably make a set that no one could tell from originals.

    Materials would be dirt cheap. I can provide measurements if you can't find any as a reference.
