Wondering if an early intake manifold from a 322 can have the mounting holes "oblonged" and port matched to fit on a 364? How about the same idea using a later 401/425 intake? I don't seem to be getting very lucky trying to find a 364 4bbl so I guess I'm starting to think of other options. Three 2's would be kool too but I haven't found one of those I can afford. Just don't want a single 2bbl. Thanks, Chuck
Could You re machine the top of the 2 bbl manifold to take one of the big holley 2 bbl carbs??????? They are rated up to 500 cfm. That is as much as a 4 bbl. I have machined out the bores on stock intakes for years, and most of them can go some bigger. Then it is just a matter of making it bolt up to the manifold. You might have to fab a adapter.
The number may be the same--or close--but since 2-barrels are rated at 3" of vacuum while 4-barrels are rated at 1.5" of vacuum, a 500 CFM four barrel will DRAMATICALLY out-flow a 500 CFM two-barrel.
Wow that ones great! I can't afford it but its sure kool. I'm watching it to see how high it sells though. 3 2's is just a dream for me on my budget, I'd just be real happy with 1 4bbl.
I have seen a few engines with the intake bolt holes elongated like you mentioned. I also have seen this done with drastically milled blocks/heads. I think there is enough material to do this safely if you use a 322 intake on the 364. You will need to open the inboard side of the head port and outside of the intake port. I think it is only about 1/4" difference total-this means something like 1/16" on both sides-not too bad. I will try to remember to measure a 322 and 364 head spacing tomorrow.
