Hi, will the A-833 or MY6 trans bolt in place of a TH-350 or a BW 3-speed from a 68 corvette. I'm going to use the 3 speed from the vette for now and then swap to a A-833 trans later. I'm trying to avoid having to cut the driveshaft twice. The Vette 3 speed has a TH-350 spline yoke and from what i understand, so does the A-833. If it is the same length that would make everything easier. Thanks, Jeramie
As long as its got the GM bolt pattern. Earlier GM A-833 ODs used a Mopar pattern and it only bolted to the Chevy bell for that application.
I have one of those bolted to my buick right now. It came from a chevy truck. With bell housing it's the same length as a turbo 350. I used the stock driveshaft. The tranny mount is in the stock location. Put a standard GM tranny mount onto the 833 and bolt it to the cross member. The throw out bearing is standard GM. Though make sure it is the shortest one you can find. Mine is short and it barely clears the tranny. It's a normal 4 speed bellhousing. I used one from a pontiac. The input spline is standard 1-1/8 - 10 spline.
Now that you mention it I did too. Forgot about that. I also had to use those cap screws instead of hex bolts to clear the bell housing hole.
Didja hafta modify 2 of the holes on the bellhousing??? I sorta recall 2 being in the GM location and the other 2 perhaps Mopar position??? ...and yep IBR needs to be turned down.
