I believe Nova's used leaf springs compared to coils on the Buicks

you need a 10-bolt rearend out of a 71-72 A body mostly found in olds and buicks of those years to fit your coil spring set up.

you may use one, you just have to cut of the leaf perches and weld on coil spring perches thats on youre currentt axle..

it all depends on what you want to do or have get done.

    tehn again..you said 64 which mean 8.2 i believe

I would honestly just try and find a 71-72 buick skylark/olds cuttlass rearend as its the bolt-in axle version for the corporate 8.5..

but if you cant hold off a 70-79 transam or camaro z28s are still plentyful and you get posi and decent gears...3.08 3.23 and 3.42 from transam and 3.73s from z28

but again you'll just have to swap the perches from old axle to new one

Do not bother. The nova does not have the upper control arm perches to fit the a-body GM cars including your skylark. Welding ears onto cast is a trick task and even the best welding places will not give a guarantee that they will stay put.

There are SOOOO many other choice out there to get that will bolt right in.
1964-1972 chevelle, elcamino, gto, LeMans, Tempest, Cutlass, F85, 442, grand prix, Monte Carlo...Millions out there. You should not have trouble find one.

You can buy the 3.08 posi nova if it is a good price find a chevelle elcamino or monte carlo 8.2 10 bolt from 64-72 swap the guts and it will be a direct bolt in just need a u-joint swap.

BUT after all that buying I could just sell you what you need for the rear you have IF you like the ratio and just want POSI. Think it over. Jim

Jim this is becoming an increasingly frustrating situation for me. I have been told that my car has a 8.5 rear, 12 bolt cover, with a 10 bolt ring gear. I dont know what the rearend cam out of, and there are no numbers for me to give you. I really dont want to spend $1500 which is what I am being quoted to build a chevy 12 bolt. If you have a set of gears that will work with this rear please let me know, also what the cost will be.

This might work for you if still available:

If so then maybe it's from an Oldsmobile as some of their rear ends had 12bolt cover but were not 12bolt rear like the other GM lines.

    Babyblue,
From your description, you have an Olds 12 bolt...your best solution is a 71-2 Cutlass/Skylark 8.5" rear....Monzaz should have some....I just sold him 5 of them.
