will 3.23 gears work with my 2.93 posi carrier?

I have a 1970 GS455 w/THM400. Currently it has 2.56 gears but I want to go back to either a 2.93 gear set or a 3.23 gear set. I do have the 2.93 posi carrier. So, will a set of 3.23 gears (from a '68-'70 Skylark) work with the 2.93 posi carrier or do I need to get another posi carrier? I thought that the 3.23s would work with the 2.93 carrier but I would really like to hear from someone who knows! Thanks!

Well... there's an old saying about asking a question if you can't stand the answer. Here's the answer: http://www.jdrace.com/diff_id/10bBOP_Buick.htm
The answer is: NO So, back to the quest of trying to locate a set of 2.93 gears...

Pm Jim (monzaz) if you haven't already. If they can be had, he can get them. He built my entire rear and is a great guy to work with.

I had 3.23 1970 posi gears installed in my factory 2.93 10 bolt '68 posi carrier. It was a direct fit as far as I remember:puzzled:

As always, confirm with an expert to be sure.

Mike, I think you can install larger gears with a spacer plate. The carrier breaks clearly show that a 3.23 will not fit the 2.93 carrier, not without a spacer plate.
