My project is a 1966 Wildcat. It is a solid high option 401 hardtop. I have acquired; Lesabre 3 speed pedals & linkage, stepped flywheel w/ pressure plate. I am keeping the bench seat, so I will need some idea of what shifter & trim was used? What trans/bellhousing should I be looking for? Of course I would prefer to go stock, but I am being realistic, Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks

The shifter is Wildcat specific. I cannot think of any other brand car or model that resembles it.

Kinda tall Hurst for 65; same little console as 64 + 65 Skylarks

Nailhead 4 speed parts are very hard to come by.
    65-66 Lesabre was a small-block 300 or 340. Linkage from those years won't work.
Consider an aftermarket bellhousing with a hydraulic throw-out bearing. Ted can fill in the details.:TU:

Even the manual pedal setup for a Wildcat was different than the LeSabre. Think "heavy duty",

    Hi,

I believe the there has been a Borg Warner T89 (3 speed) on ebay for about 6 months now and would be correct for the full size (skylarks & specials used a older design 3 speed)

as for a 4 speed believe most buicks of this era were Borg Warner t-10 although if orginality is not a concern a Muncie will fit as this is what I put behind my 401 powered skylark though make sure whichever route you go to verify the throwout bearing retainer inside diameter to the bearing retainer od as T-10's and muncie's are about 30 to 60 thou different (just will need to have one machined to fit your bearing retainer (muncie or std GM are larger) also during my research I was told the bearing retainer flange come in a variety of diameters as well

good luck with the project you will enjoy driving a manual trans nailhead,

Check with the BuickFarm as I think they have a stick shift stuff for the nailhead.

Ted; Thanks for the pics. Update on this '66 Wildcat conversion project; I have the shifter, pressure plate, pedals & stepped flywheel. I also have an M-20, but I will keep an eye out for a T-10. The big issue at this point is; nailhead bellhousing, lever assembly and clutch disc compatible with the stepped flywheel. Any suggestions for part sources? Thanks, Ed

Clutch disc and pressure plate- try Ft Wayne Clutch. I may have a core but I think they are not too difficult to source.

Bellhousing and T-10; I made a visit with Aaron Stern in Ca back in February, he has a Nailhead bellhousing and T-10 for sale. 951-738-1157

Clutch linkage- that stuff would be hard to find, I recommend going hydraulic!
