    On the cowl tag.

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the link Dan. The thread had '65-'67 info, but I've seen some 1970 models with a 'Z' before the 3-digit trim code.

    I'm still curious :Brow:

    Marco,
    That's the "Z" factor.
    Sorry couldn't resist.

On some buildsheets the trim codes have a "S" or "T" after them.

The Z prefix on a trim tag means there was an override of a suggested color or trim package.

Like ordering a forrest green gs with blue bucket seat interior.

    "Z" tag

Last year I sold my '70 GS455 conv. that had 75 A paint code with Z188 trim code which is a red car with a white conv top and a black bucket interior. Very nice looking car. What the heck was I thinking... why did I sell it.

Maybe it has something to do with a different interior/top combination?

I do have a Z188 car (black buckets) in the registry which does have a recommended upper/lower color combination, so I know there was no 'override' there.

The override could be from the dealer or customer during the order process.
If that car has the "Z" then something was changed in the trim package.
