Who sells a header wrench? I recall seeing a thread that Snap On sells a header wrench. I checked their web page with no success. I also googled it with no luck. I need a 3/8 wrench like the following: http://www.gearwrench.com/catalog/wrenches/ratcheting/s-shape_reversible/index.jsp?view=SAE Has anyone used this to get the bitch bolt (lower middle) on MT headers? I can only get it finger tight.
Hi Dave, first off try to use a 12 point head bolt (arp) i dont think a gearwench will work on that middle bolt the head is to big , go to sears or snapon and get a couple of small 12 point style wrenches, i always look for them at swap meets its a slow go but youll get it.Good luck.Greg
I was afraid the gearwrench head was to big. I was hoping to find an old school box wrench (s- shaped) meaning no gear. I have 12 point bolts from TA. So you use a normal (straight) 12 point box wrench? Thanks
The Alden Wrench. You need only 30 degrees to tighten bolts. Fits right down from the top and will click the bolt right out. I R&Red my headers in about 10-15 minutes with them.
Does the Alden Wrench work on 12 point bolts? Other than ordering on line who sells them? I hate shipping charges. Thanks again reber
u can take a short 3/8 wrench and grind it down nice a thin. worked well for me and cheap. just did it to one of my old wrenches
Yup and 2 hrs later you have the headers off. :bla: 39 dollar set of wrenches and in 10 minutes they're off. :Smarty: :TU:
I never had any trouble with my headers.:Smarty: I make sure all the bolt holes on the headers are wide open and right in they go. I also use the TA 12 point bolts.:Brow: Although thats a cool looking tool. Where did you find it?uzzled:
Thanks for the help guys. I ground the hell out of 3/8 box wrench and got the job done. I make a bunch of my own tools/Jigs (amateur welder). I hated like to ruin a wrench. reber
If you go and build anymore tools, just make sure they're the cheap ones. It would be a crying shame to grind down a Snap-on or Mac tool. Especially when Wal-mart sells the cheapest tools known to man. They're cheap and of low quality, and they might take it back if you tell them it was damaged in the package.
Go to Sears and get yourself a set of ignition wrenches. The 12-point box-end works perfectly! http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00942319000P?keyword=00942319000&sLevel=0 -Bob C.
Those little buggers are expensive by themselves. I got mine with my big end wrench set. I paid $50 and I got every conventional combination wrench from 1/4" to 1 1/8" and those ignition wrenches.
I got mine from the store about 7 or 8 years ago. I got the metric set for the same price about 5 years ago and it included the ignition set too.
