It has to be pre-arranged with Dan & Bob. You need to arrive a day earlier on Wednesday with your engine half-disassembled so they can do an NHRA version of a teardown inspection on all the engine internals. It takes place at a local shop. You then have to reassemble it yourself, have the engine sealed by them and have everything up and running again in time for Friday a.m. Your car is a good candidate, but it's not a process for the faint of heart (ask Pete). Details of the program are at the PSMCDR website.
Don't know where that one got started Rumor, the car was supposed to be gone in a multi car trade deal that fell through the other day. I think the next time the engine comes apart or is pulled from the vehicle, it will be the last time with Brian owning it.
Also, anybody know who's overseeing certification this year? Who are the independent observers who will be measuring and otherwise strictly tracking what's legal, etc.?
Oversite I would highly recommend that a group of KNOWLEDGEABLE people oversee the certification process. I am not going to speculate why, but it would be healthy for our little hobby. I will say this,.................we need to keep it an apples to apples comparison of old cert and new. Jim :TU:
apples to apples Are you saying that Bob,Dan,and Scott aren't KNOWLEDGEABLE.Do you think their going to give someone a break because they like them, thats crazy and its goofy ideas like that that start talk and trouble. They[bob, dan] have more on the line than anybody and do a great job.
I don't think Jim's comments were meant as a slight against Bob, Dan, Scott or anyone else. Having a group of independent witnesses lends credibility to the entire process, as it has in years gone by. No one person in this hobby has a monopoly on knowledge, nor is anyone above an inadvertent oversight. As I understand it, there have always been others present during the teardown. That openness and transparency lends additional, needed credibility to Certified Stock. After all, this voluntary program is heralded as the definitive yardstick by which everyone else in P/S is measured. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think Bob, Dan, Scott or the car owners themselves mind the extra eyes. No, I think everyone wins with an open shop. It's not crazy or goofy; if anything it serves to quell the talk and trouble.
Right on RDL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anything, Dan, Bob and Scott's job is made easier with more eyes watching. Just my opinion. :TU: Comments appreciated! JIM
