i have a 72 skylark w/350 and 2barrel. hei and dual exhaust. holley spreadbore or qjet at my disposal. 3.23 or 3.42 gear coming not too distant future. stock 8.5 compression and stock cam for now. going to go 4 barrel next week or so. car has egr and air right now. will intake from 68 work or do i use manifold w/egr on it? poston and t/a too much for me right now. can get 68 or 75 intake for around 100 plus shipping. advise would be appreciated.thanx ralph
i would use the intake without the egr personally, my 73 was a two barrell in the begining and i bought a 70 non egr intake works just fine. eliminate the proper hoses and youll be fine. at least i was:3gears: :3gears:
yes thats what i was thinking as well. did u have to plug anything up in the heads? i mean due to the air pump. thank you for ur reply.ralph
no i did not. i wasnt concerened about the air pump i just took it off. no reason for it without the egr dont think 72 or 73 had converters on them either. depends on originality, if that what your going for. im not, just speed ha ha:3gears: :3gears:
nah im not into the original deal. just an ol hot rodder that likes to do it right the first time! thanx buddy:beer
I got the same question. I have a 76 century 2bbl with all the crap. What year 4bbl intake should I look for?
Same thing jake, Id use an early non egr intake but you can still eliminate the egr with the later intakes. I have a 80 4bb intake if you can't find an older one.
The heads have passages to allow ehaust air into the intake and I just blocked those off so there is no egr system and the intake runs cooler which leads to a cooler (denser, better) charge of air. 3"dryer duct also helps to get cool air in the motor from the grill.
there is a thread dated 11-17-05 titled "350 buick intake question/help "i found in the archives it should answer our questions. thanx to all who helped with this:TU: ralph
