Sorry if this is the wrong form (sparky's corner seemed to deal more with none ignition type electrical questions)

My original stock points distributor is not getting the job done anymore and I want to upgrade.

The car has a mild cam, in the future headers, 3.90 gear and 2500 -3000 stall converter will be installed. (I'm not sure if any of the previous info. helps)
The car will see limited strip activity and be driven on the mainly on the weekends.
    Budget IS a concern.
    What do you experts recommend?
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Yup what Adam said. I just installed mine this weekend. Can you say Vroooooom! I am really digging this setup on my car. Runs better than stock points and kicks the crap out of my old Pertronix setup. Save yourself some headaches and go with Dave.:beer

I went after more performance and also more costs but the MSD 7al2 is a good choice but mostly alot more costs. I run it on my street car :Brow:

I also do MSD trigger conversions into stock points dists, as I use the MSD 8466-1 magnetic pickup they use in their setups, same parts. Plugs directly into any two prong MSD magnetic feed wire set plug, exact same as an MSD dist.

An MSD trigger only build for me is one of my small body HEI's, without the HEI module.

ingition man, while your answering questions is it possible to have you convert to hei now and then later when i have the funds to add an msd 6aL or something similar myself. what would be he benefits of adding the msd, just to provide a rev limiter?

    thanks

Ivan, GREAT pic! That one IS you, for certain. Glad to hear it went well. And, if any of you get a chance to see Ivan's ride up close, it is BEAUTIFUL, one heck of a nice car.

Yup, easy to go to MSD from one of my HEI's. In the MSD package, there is an adapter for HEI, removes the HEI module and runs the MSD directly off the magnetic pickup. This adapter will plug right into the two wires removed from the HEI module, and then connect to the magnetic input wire set on the MSD.
