I've read several posts/threads about the Holley HP 1000. From what I've read, it's much more street friendly than the HP 950(which I already have). My question is, which HP 1000 is the one to buy. There's two listed, an annular and a downleg version. Which the one that the 455 likes and why?o No:
There are Two HP 1000 listed 80513-1 Down leg style boosters 709.99 80514-1 Annular Boosters 749.99 This is Jegs Pricing
whats the difference in the downleg and annular boosters? which would work best with a hot motor on an SP-2 thanks
From my experience on the dyno, an annular carb has very bad fuel distribution on single plane intakes but work great on dual planes. Mike Phillips
Annular is on the right; it releases gas through the holes around the perimeter of the booster ring. Is this what you wanted to see / know?
I have not had any luck making power with the annulars. You will almost always pickup with downleg boosters. Annular boosters drive around great, you'd swear it would run nice at the track. Get to the track and lose a .15. They make alot of fuel vapor which displaces air and makes the engine lose power. When fuel turn to a gas it takes up 1000 times the area. Dominators do not act the same. Far less booster signal. I like the Quick fuel carbs.
Here's a Car Craft article on the topic: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/116_0508_carburetor_showdown/index.html
http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=75730&highlight=80513-1 Pay attention to post #14 . Also note that a Kenne-Bell Wildcat was worth 33 HP over a B4B on this combo.
and after reading that article, i seemed to have changed my mind... So, again, i am undecided  thanks for the lesson though! :TU:
By the way, Amazon sells the downleg version for $663.94 (same price for the annular): http://www.amazon.com/Holley-Perfor..._1_2/103-5719561-3900641?ie=UTF8&s=automotive You also get free Super Saver shipping as it appears to ship directly from Amazon.
