It's been over 20 years since the first Supercar Showdown was run in Bowling Green, KY at the Buick GS Nationals. 26 cars, with coverage by Car Review magazine and Car Craft. How about a Hemi Superbird, a Hemi Daytona, a 440-6 Superbird, Dan's 455HO T-37, my Biscayne, a 427/425 Galaxie, John Chamberlain's Stg1 Buick ..... etc. How about Dan and John battling it out for low ET -- with both cars running just under 13.50's. We were in awe at the time with those ET's. Most cars at this event were 14.0+ cars ... many in the 15's.

The reason that I bring this up is that I just burned my first DVD of the 1985 Supercar Showdown off of a VHS tape from BITD. It is somewhat amateur, but it shows all the runs.

If anyone is interested, I can get you a DVD for $15.00 - shipped, in the lower 48.

If you want to see my Biscayne embarrass itself, just get this video. Damn near every shift is missed .... and caught on tape.

I'm also doing the 1986 Supercar Showdown video from Quaker City Dragway in Ohio. Much more professional, with driver interviews, etc. This is the race that Bob Karakashian and his 6PK Bee took out Jim Mino's Firebird. Those were the days .......

Same deal, if interested. $15.00 shipped to you.

1987 and 1988 Musclecar Nationals .... soon to come ! :TU:

I remember those days. I still have those issues of Musclecar Review stashed away in my garage. Everyone was in awe at Mino's Firebird going in the 12's. How could it be???? Whatever happened to Mr. Mino? Bob K's Bee was always awesome.

    Thanks for the memories.

Jim's still around and I traded emails with him a couple of months back. He still has a RAII Firebird and he got a 12.00 ET I believe out of it last year on Drag Radials. He has had several of those Firebirds and claims they all ran mid-low 12's in near certified condition.

I've got those issues too.......I still go through them every once in a while......At the time, his cars sure seemed run better than what everyone thought they should... :TU:

Gonzo; What state does he live in? Why doesn't he come to some PS or FAST races?
