Grr, I was overconfident when taking the instrument cluster out since all the connectors where unique (or so I thought) - eliminating the need to mark them. Well, now I've got myself a rear defroster switch that I for the life of me can't figure out where to hook in. To add insult to injury (so to speak) I can't find the thing in my factory manual either. This is the best shot I have of the wire/connector (it's on the left): The funny thing is that the switch isn't just a male connector - like the rest of the switches and gauges - but has a ~2 foot wire connected to it that ends in three connectors; one pink (separated from the others) and two purple that are joined in one casing. I'm going to replace the instrument cluster with a new one (as this is beyond repair) so It's not that big deal if I can't get it in this time but I would very much like to get it done properly the next winter. Any ideas? TIA.
The rear defroster gets power from the fuse block via the pink wire. The purple wires are for Hi and Low speed. Look for a lead(s) comming from the fuse block that will mate with the connectors on the end of the defroster wire from the cluster. The rear defroster option could be factory ordered, or dealer installed. :TU:
I was looking for something a bit further down, behind the dash, but I guess I wasn't looking hard enough. Plus I was looking for something with three connectors. @Craig: What section/page is the excerpt from? I can't figure out where Buick put that particular information. Thanks for the help! :TU:
It's just on the wiring circuit diagrams, Group 120 Chassis Electrical & Instrument Panel (120-142) Let me know if you need anything else. I've wore that manual out putting in a Painless :spank: 18 Circuit Wiring Harness
