I have a 55Buick Special with the 264 when I took my carb off I broke the end of the metal line that goes from the distributor to the base of the carburetor. It has a cone shaped fitting with a brass ferule on the end so I'm thinking a piece of brake line won't work because the nut makes the seal not a double flare. Does anyone sell this new? How can I make one?

The nut crunches the ferrule to make the seal. If you have enough line left you can buy a new ferrule, cut the bad stuff off and reconnect. Be sure to put the nut on first. If the line is too short, you can use 1/8" copper, but try to find steel, because copper will work- harden over time and break again. In a pinch you could use flexible oil pressure line, instead, even though it's obviously not original. It will stand up to the vacuum and oil in the area. After all, it's meant for hot oil at some high temps, right?
